The Nationals transferred Waldichuk (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Richard Lovelady. Waldichuk is likely headed for Tommy John surgery, though he will receive a second opinion before a final decision is made.

The Nationals acquired Lovelady from the Mets on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.

Lovelady has gone back and forth between the two organizations multiple times since January. The southpaw holds a 3.68 ERA and 6:4 K:BB over 7.1 innings this season. He does not have minor-league options remaining, so Lovelady will go directly onto the Nationals' active roster.

Devers went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Reds.

Devers hit a leadoff single in the seventh inning before coming around to score and added another base hit in the eighth. The veteran infielder has recorded five multi-hit performances so far this season, including two over the last six games. He's now slashing .229/.280/.329 with seven runs scored, six RBI and two long balls across 75 plate appearances in 2026.

Hentges (knee/shoulder) struck out one in a scoreless inning during Triple-A Sacramento's 7-6 win over Tacoma on Wednesday.

After tossing a scoreless inning for Single-A San Jose on Sunday, Hentges advanced to Sacramento for the next step of his rehab assignment and threw eight of his 13 pitches for strikes. The 29-year-old southpaw hasn't pitched in a big-league game since 2024 but appears to be trending in the right direction after undergoing left shoulder surgery in September 2024 and arthroscopic right knee surgery in August 2025.

Ruiz is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh.

Ruiz and Drew Millas have had a fairly even timeshare at catcher this season, and it will be Millas behind the dish for Thursday's matinee. The switch-hitting Ruiz has slashed a mere .182/.200/.333 in the early going this season.

Quintana (0-1) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Astros after allowing three runs on three hits and four walks across 3.2 innings. He struck out one.

Quintana gave up two runs in the first inning before allowing a solo homer to Yordan Alvarez in the third. Quintana hasn't had encouraging results to open the season, allowing five runs on seven hits while posting a subpar 3:8 K:BB over eight innings in two outings. The fact that both outings have been outside the confines of Coors Field paints them in an even more worrisome light, and he's tentatively scheduled to make his next start at home next week against the Dodgers.

Uribe earned the save with a perfect ninth inning in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jays. He struck out one.

The 25-year-old right-hander picked up his first save of the season with a 1-2-3 inning on 12 pitches (eight strikes), one day after manager Pat Murphy told Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he was considering a short-term role change for Trevor Megill. Uribe may now be in the lead for save chances while Megill attempts to get back on track for Milwaukee. Uribe has put up a 4.91 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB through 7.1 innings for the Brewers this season.

Bart will start at catcher and bat seventh in Thursday's game against the Nationals.

It's the fifth start across the last eight contests for Bart, who could be emerging the 1A to Henry Davis' 1B at catcher for the Pirates. Bart is hitting only .136/.231/.273 this season but did hit his first home run of the season in his last start Tuesday.

Davis is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Nationals.

After starting eight of the first 11 games of the season, Davis has been in the lineup just three times across the past eight tilts. Davis' production at the plate has picked up a bit recently, but he's slashing just .216/.326/.297 overall. Joey Bart (.136/.231/.273) has been even worse, but he might have inched past Davis on the depth chart.

O'Hearn is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Nationals.

The left-handed-hitting O'Hearn has been getting an opportunity to play against most lefties this season, but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Nationals send southpaw Foster Griffin to the hill. Jake Mangum will occupy right field and bat leadoff for the Pirates.
