  • Bryan Reynolds LF | PIT

Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Knocks in two

Reynolds went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, one run scored and one walk Thursday against the Cardinals.

Reynolds doubled in consecutive plate appearances in the fourth and fifth innings to account for his production. He now has multiple hits in two of his last three starts, but he is still hitting only .200 with four RBI and six runs scored with no home runs across his last 10 starts. Overall, Reynolds is batting .246 with a .132 ISO (three homers) across 142 plate appearances to begin the campaign.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Pirates' Brandon Lowe: Slugs eighth homer

Lowe went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday against the Cardinals.

Lowe briefly pulled the Pirates to within one run in the seventh inning with his eighth home run of the season. That marked his first long ball since April 14, a span of 11 starts. After a hot start to the campaign, Lowe is hitting only .235 with one home run, five RBI and five runs scored across his last 12 games.

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Reaches eight times in doubleheader

Schwarber went 5-for-6 with two home runs, two doubles, three walks, three total runs and three total RBI across both games of Thursday's doubleheader sweep of the Giants.

Schwarber foreshadowed his impressive day at the plate with a solo home run in his first plate appearance during Game 1. He reached two more times (via walks) in that contest, then exploded for four hits (including another solo homer and two doubles) in the nightcap. Altogether, Schwarber reached base eight times in nine plate appearances during the twin bill, and he pushed his season batting average up from .190 all the way to .225. Schwarber has been plenty productive despite the tepid batting average, swatting 11 homers (fourth most in MLB) with 20 RBI and 21 runs. He's also drawn at least one walk in six straight games and is tied for eighth in the majors by taking 24 free passes on the campaign.

  • Giants' Adrian Houser: Falls short of five frames again

Houser allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Phillies in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader.

Houser began his outing poorly, giving up a pair of solo homers in the first inning. He bounced back by keeping the Giants out of the scoring column over the next three frames, but he was pulled in the fifth after giving up a two-out single, and that batter eventually came around to score. Houser tossed just 68 pitches, and he's now failed to complete five innings in three of his past four starts. This was nonetheless an improvement over his last appearance, when Houser coughed up eight runs over four frames, but the veteran righty has been far from impressive this season with a 7.12 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 16:10 K:BB through 30.1 innings.

  • Tim Mayza RP | PHI

Phillies' Tim Mayza: Works as opener Thursday

Mayza served as Philadelphia's opener in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader versus San Francisco and pitched two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out two batters in a no-decision.

The Phillies elected to go to a bullpen game in the nightcap of Thursday's twin bill, and none of the pitchers they deployed went more than 2.1 frames. Mayza worked as the opener for the first time in his career and did well, though there's very little to take away from his performance from a fantasy perspective. The veteran reliever will likely return to his low-leverage bullpen role moving forward.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Let down by bullpen in no-decision

Webb allowed one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out six batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Philadelphia in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday.

He was excellent in his seven frames, giving up just one run on a first-inning Kyle Schwarber homer. Webb racked up 13 whiffs and finished with his fifth quality start through seven outings. However, the right-hander wasn't able to notch the victory, as closer Ryan Walker gave up two runs in the ninth frame to blow a save opportunity. Webb's numbers (4.30 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 2.5 K/BB) haven't been as good this season as in years past, but he's still providing San Francisco with plenty of value by going deep into games, tallying at least six frames in each of his past six appearances. He's slated to make his next start at home versus San Diego.

  • Ryan Walker RP | SF

Giants' Ryan Walker: Blows save Thursday

Walker (0-1) took the loss and blew a save opportunity in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.

Logan Webb gave San Francisco seven innings of one-run ball, and Erik Miller tossed a scoreless eighth to hand Walker a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. However, the Giants' closer couldn't protect the advantage, yielding a pair of infield singles and a triple to allow two runs to score. The blown save was the second of the season across five save chances for Walker, who has registered a 4.26 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB through 12.2 frames spanning 13 outings. He's probably still safe as San Francisco's primary saves option for the time being, though Walker doesn't have the longest leash among MLB closers.

  • Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Fans seven in no-decision

Sanchez allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings in a no-decision against San Francisco in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader.

Sanchez had a rough first inning, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk. However, he bounced back impressively, finishing his outing with 5.2 scoreless frames during which he yielded just three baserunners. Sanchez recorded his third quality start across his past four appearances, and his 6.2 innings marked a campaign high. The lefty's 1.51 season WHIP isn't ideal, but he's otherwise posted good numbers with a 2.90 ERA and 50:13 K:BB through 40.1 frames spanning seven starts.

  • Phillies' Nolan Hoffman: Returns to Triple-A

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants.

Hoffman was added to the major-league roster ahead of the team's doubleheader versus San Francisco. He tossed two innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk while striking out a batter in the team's 6-5 extra-inning win in the nightcap. Hoffman has now pitched 3.1 innings, allowing one run while striking out two over two appearances with the Phillies this season.

  • Jordan Walker RF | STL

Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Keeps rolling Thursday

Walker went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Pirates.

That's now seven RBI in Walker's past three outings, which comes on the heels of his eight-game stretch with no RBI. The 23-year-old former top prospect is finally realizing his potential as a five-category fantasy producer during his fourth year in the major leagues. Through 116 at-bats, Walker is hitting .284 with nine homers, four doubles, 23 RBI and five stolen bases.
