  • Edmundo Sosa LF | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Sitting again Sunday

Sosa (groin) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Sosa will sit for a second straight game after exiting Friday's contest due to groin tightness. Bryson Stott will shift to shortstop while Weston Wilson picks up a start at second base in Sunday's series finale.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Resting Sunday

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Baldwin had started in each of the last nine games -- eight at catcher, one at designated hitter -- but he'll get a well-deserved breather for Sunday's matinee. Sandy Leon will step in behind the plate in the rookie's stead.

  • Max Kepler LF | ARI

Phillies' Max Kepler: Idle against southpaw

Kepler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

With southpaw Noah Cameron on the bump for Kansas City, the left-handed-hitting Kepler will bow out of the lineup for the series finale. He'll cede his spot in the outfield to Nick Castellanos.

  • Seiya Suzuki RF | CHC

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: On bench for third straight

Suzuki (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Suzuki is sitting for a third consecutive game while battling an illness. Moises Ballesteros started at designated hitter for the first two games and is doing so again Sunday for the series finale versus Tampa Bay.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: First day off of 2025

Machado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

In what appears to be a planned rest day, Machado will get a first day off of the season after starting in each of the Padres' first 149 games of the campaign. Jose Iglesias will step in at third base for Machado, who went 4-for-10 with two home runs, two walks, four RBI and four runs through the first three games of the series.

  • Cubs' Kevin Alcantara: Brought back from Triple-A

The Cubs recalled Alcantara from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

The Cubs demoted Alcantara when Owen Caissie was recalled from Iowa a day earlier, but Alcantara will rejoin the big club for the series finale with Tampa Bay after Caissie sustained a concussion in Saturday's 5-4 loss. Even though Seiya Suzuki (illness) is day-to-day and Kyle Tucker (calf) remains on the injured list, Alcantara is still likely to be limited to a depth role in the Chicago outfield as the regular season winds down.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Not in Sunday's lineup

Edwards (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Edwards will sit for a second consecutive game after being scratched from the lineup Saturday due to wrist discomfort. He'll have an extra day to recover thanks to Monday's team off day ahead of Tuesday's series opener in Colorado. Maximo Acosta is manning the keystone Sunday for Miami, opening up third base for Javier Sanoja.

  • Owen Caissie RF | MIA

Cubs' Owen Caissie: Hits shelf with concussion

The Cubs placed Caissie (concussion) on the 7-day injured list Sunday.

Just one day after being recalled from Triple-A Iowa, Caissie will be deactivated after he sustained a concussion when he collided with the outfield wall on a catch in the third inning of Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Rays. Chicago recalled Kevin Alcantara from Iowa to provide the team with another option in the outfield while Seiya Suzuki (illness) is day-to-day and Kyle Tucker (calf) is on the 10-day IL.

  • Brady House 3B | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: On bench Sunday

House is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

House will take a seat Sunday after a run of five straight starts, during which he went 4-for-17 with a double and a solo homer. Paul DeJong is manning the hot corner and batting seventh in the series finale for the Nationals.

  • Dylan Crews RF | WAS

Nationals' Dylan Crews: Out of Sunday's lineup

Crews is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Pirates, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Crews started the previous eight games and will receive a day off after posting a .749 OPS with two homers during that stretch. Robert Hassell will shift to right field Sunday, allowing Jacob Young to pick up a start in center.
