Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said Thursday that Hill (shoulder) could be "ready to go" off the bench in Thursday's game versus the Nationals, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports.

Hill was removed from Wednesday's contest after slamming hard into the outfield wall while trying to make a catch. He remains sore, but Hill might be available off the bench for Thursday's series finale.

Hernandez re-signed Tuesday with Atlanta on a minor-league contract.

Hernandez elected free agency earlier in the week after being removed from Atlanta's 40-man roster and clearing waivers, but he quickly found his way back to the organization. The right-hander saw his first big-league action since 2024 back in July, making two appearances out of the Atlanta bullpen and giving up one earned run across six innings.

An MRI on Painter's left hamstring came back clean, and he is expected to make his next start Monday in St. Louis, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports.

Painter had to be lifted from Wednesday's start versus the Nationals after four innings when his left hamstring tightened up on him. His removal was seen as a precaution, however, and the rookie hurler won't miss a turn as long as he gets through his normal between-starts bullpen session without any hiccups.

Burke secured the save against the Athletics on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and no walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

Closer Emilio Pagan was likely unavailable Thursday after working each of the past two days, so the Reds turned elsewhere with a three-run advantage. Burke, who has operated primarily as a setup man, was called upon and needed every bit of the 6-3 lead he was granted, serving up a two-run shot to Brian Serven before closing it out. The southpaw is now 2-for-2 in save chances this season, holding a 2.73 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 51:31 K:BB with 13 holds over 56 innings.

Lile is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Philadelphia.

The lefty-swinging Lile was an everyday player for the first three months of the season, but Washington has sat him out fairly often against lefties of late. With southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the mound for the Phillies on Thursday, Lile will be absent from the lineup for the fifth time in the Nationals past nine games versus a lefty starter.

Abbott (6-7) earned the win against the Athletics on Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks in 6.2 innings. He struck out four.

Abbott was efficient Thursday, firing 62 of his 88 pitches for strikes, and he hung in there for a quality start after giving up all of his three runs in the fourth inning. It was the longest outing of the season for the southpaw, who previously hadn't recorded an out in the seventh inning and has now turned in three quality starts in his past four outings. Abbott will take a 3.92 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and a troubling 99:61 K:BB over 128.2 frames into his next scheduled appearance on the road against the White Sox.

The Reds transferred Dunn (elbow) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Thursday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of waiver claim Ron Marinaccio. Dunn underwent season-ending internal brace surgery on his right elbow earlier this week.

The Reds claimed Solesky off waivers from the Rays on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Louisville.

Solesky was removed from Tampa Bay's 40-man roster Monday after the team acquired Tyler Wells from the Orioles ahead of the trade deadline. Now in a new organization, Solesky will stay put at Triple-A level, where he's accumulated a 7.03 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 56.1 innings this season.

The Reds claimed Marinaccio off waivers from the Pirates on Thursday.

Marinaccio has logged a 4.99 ERA and 42:20 K:BB over 52.1 innings across 37 appearances between the Padres and Pirates this season. The 31-year-old doesn't have minor-league options remaining, so he will report directly to the Reds and join their relief corps.

Painter said following Wednesday's 10-4 loss to to the Nationals in 11 innings that he's not worried about missing time due to the left hamstring injury that forced him out of the game after four innings, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports. "I felt like I could have gone out there and still competed. [The coaching staff] felt like they didn't want to risk that," Painter said.

Making a second straight turn through the Philadelphia rotation, Painter struck out four batters and limited the Nationals to one earned run on three hits and one walk in four innings prior to his departure. Painter appeared to first tweak the hamstring in the first inning when he slipped while delivering a 3-2 pitch to Daylen Lile, but the right-hander said the hamstring didn't tighten up on him until the fourth. The Phillies have no plans to send Painter in for imaging, and so long as he's able to complete a bullpen session over the weekend without issue, he'll tentatively line up to make his next start Monday in St. Louis.
