Kelly is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Blue Jays.

Kelly and Miguel Amaya have rotated starts at catcher for the Cubs in each of the last 10 games. It will be Amaya behind the dish Thursday at Wrigley Field.

Williams has been nursing right arm fatigue but is available out of the Mets' bullpen for Thursday's game in Cleveland, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

He was unavailable Wednesday, leading to Daniel Duarte closing things down to notch his second career save. Williams will be ready for a save opportunity Thursday should one present itself, and the Mets do not seem concerned at this point that Williams' fatigue will be a recurring issue.

The Cubs optioned Ferguson to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.

Ferguson had pitched each of the last two days -- including throwing 29 pitches over two scoreless frames versus the Dodgers on Wednesday -- so he's being replaced by a fresh reliever. The 32-year-old has logged a 3.45 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB over 15.2 innings for the Cubs, so he's likely to be back with the big club sooner rather than later.

The Cubs recalled Garrett from Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.

Acquired from the Marlins at the trade deadline, Garrett's role with the Cubs for now appears to be as a long-relief option. The left-hander has been tagged for seven runs with a 5:8 K:BB over 4.1 innings in the majors this season, but he's collected a 2.90 ERA and 83:29 K:BB covering 77.2 frames in 2026 at the Triple-A level.

Ewing is absent from the lineup for Thursday's tilt in Cleveland.

Ewing is in a 5-for-27 slide at the dish over his last six games, so he'll get a break Thursday to regroup. Cristian Pache will play left field as the Mets go for the sweep.

Riley went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.

It was the fourth straight game with an extra-base hit for Riley, as he got Atlanta on the board in the third inning with a ground-rule double off Eury Perez into the left-field corner. The veteran third baseman is having a career-worst campaign, but he may finally be finding a groove at the plate -- over 18 contests since the All-Star break he's produced a .303/.352/.545 slash line with four doubles, four homers and 13 RBI.

Suarez (forearm) has yet to increase the intensity of his throwing program as Atlanta takes a cautious approach with his recovery, Gabriel Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The veteran reliever began playing catch right after the All-Star break, but he hasn't progressed beyond that yet. "The philosophy there is we want him to be 100% pain-free before he starts to ramp up again," manager Walt Weiss said Wednesday. "At this point of the season, we just can't afford a setback. If he were to have a setback, his season is probably over. So we're just really making sure he's 100% when he steps on the mound again so he can sprint to the finish line." Suarez hasn't seen game action since June 19, and given the length of his absence, a best-case scenario for his return might see him come off the IL in late August.

Miller (shoulder/back) allowed a solo home run and struck out three over two innings in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Miller made his first appearance of the season at any level, as he's experienced shoulder soreness coming out of spring training and was then slowed by a back issue earlier this summer while ramping up. He averaged 96.9 mph with his four-seamer in Wednesday's outing, which isn't far off from the 97.6 mph he averaged with the pitch last season. Miller could help the major-league club down the stretch -- likely in a relief role -- but the Dodgers aren't counting on it, given the hurler's performance and injury issues dating back to 2024.

Marte started in right field and went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.

Marte singled and scored in the second inning before driving in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth. He returned to the lineup after being held out against a right-hander Tuesday, when the Reds used rookie call-up Hector Rodriguez in right field. The left-handed batting Rodriguez is considered a top prospect in the organization and could emerge as the strong side of a platoon in right field while Spencer Steer (wrist) is on the injured list. After an initial burst of production when recalled in June (.913 OPS in 12 games), Marte's bat has languished since with a .173/.212/.296 slash line over 30 games since June 22.

Lodolo (finger) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings for Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Lodolo threw 65 pitches (37 strikes), a count that was right around the projected range for the left-hander. Depending on how feels following the outing, he could return to the big leagues, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. Reds manager Terry Francona said Lodolo "looked OK" and was hitting 94 to 95 mph. What many observers were interested in was his curveball, which has been the source of recurring blisters throughout Lodolo's career. He tested a modified grip successfully last week and threw 15 curves Wednesday for seven strikes, two swings and one whiff.
