The Cardinals recalled Saggese from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Saggese will rejoin the big-league club after spending over two months with the Triple-A squad in Memphis, where the 24-year-old has slashed .258/.340/.446 with 10 homers, 33 RBI and nine stolen bases over 249 plate appearances. The Cardinals placed Blaze Jordan (ankle) on the 10-day IL, creating the opening for Saggese on the active roster.

Conine is absent from the starting lineup Friday against the Nationals.

Conine will receive a breather as Washington sends out southpaw Jackson Kent for Friday's series opener. Agustin Ramirez will slot in as Miami's designated hitter and bat second.

Soto (calf) will not need a rehab assignment before returning, and his activation from the 10-day injured list is expected in the coming days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Soto has been ramping up on-field baseball activities and is slated to go through another workout at Citi Field on Friday. The Mets are expected to have a better idea of Soto's timeline following the workout. Soto has been sidelined for a little over a month with a Grade 2 left calf strain.

Riley is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

Riley will take a rare day off as Atlanta kicks off its series with the Rockies. Mauricio Dubon moves over to third base and bats sixth.

Bichette (foot) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.

Bichette injured his foot during Wednesday's matchup with the Brewers, forcing him to sit out of Thursday's series finale. The 28-year-old will re-enter the starting lineup for Friday's series opener, manning the hot corner and batting third for the Mets.

The Mets transferred Polanco (ankle) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Chris Devenski. Polanco had previously been ruled out for the season when it was decided earlier this month that he'd have surgery on his left ankle.

The Mets selected Devenski's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Devenski will join his second big-league roster this season after appearing in three games for Pittsburgh from late April to early May. In five outings with Syracuse, the 35-year-old posted a 1.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB over 7.1 innings. The Mets transferred Jorge Polanco (ankle) to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster for Devenski and optioned Xzavion Curry to Triple-A to open a spot in the bullpen for the veteran right-hander.

The Mets optioned Curry to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Curry's latest stint in the majors lasted one day, and he threw 46 pitches while yielding two runs over 2.1 innings in Thursday's loss to the Brewers. His spot on the roster will be absorbed by Chris Devenski.

The Cubs activated Milner (appendectomy) from the 15-day injured list Friday and designated him for assignment, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Milner underwent an appendectomy two months ago and pitched well in 10.2 rehab innings, posting a 2.53 ERA and 9:2 K:BB. However, the Cubs determined they didn't have room on their active roster for the lefty specialist. He has just a 17.2 percent strikeout rate over the last two seasons, but Milner boasts a 3.54 ERA and 49 percent groundball rate over the last five seasons. The southpaw could clear waivers given his $3.75 million salary, but Milner should land on his feet elsewhere.

The Pirates optioned Murdock to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

After making just one appearance with Pittsburgh since being recalled Tuesday, Murdock will head back to the Triple-A squad. With Indianapolis, the 28-year-old has posted a 0-2 record, 4.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB over 25.2 innings this season. Pittsburgh recalled Evan Sisk to replace Murdock on the 26-man roster.
