Tawa went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a second RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 10-4 win over the Padres.

Tawa has gone 7-for-20 with two homers and five RBI over five games in August. It's a nice turnaround for the utility man, who ended July in an 0-for-15 skid. On the year, he's batting .232 with a .687 OPS, six homers, 26 RBI, 20 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases over 170 plate appearances. Tawa has seen most of his time at first base lately, but he provided cover for a resting Nolan Arenado at third in Wednesday's contest.

Bratt (1-1) allowed one hit and three walks while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings to earn the win over the Padres on Wednesday.

This was Bratt's longest start yet, and while he walked multiple batters for the third start in a row, he made up for it by giving the Padres little to hit. The nine strikeouts matched the total from his previous three outings combined. Bratt's performance early in his big-league career has been solid -- he has a 3.90 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 21:18 K:BB through 27.2 innings over six starts, but he will need to cut down on the walks to find long-term success. The 23-year-old rookie is tentatively lined up to make his next start at home versus the Rockies. Bratt is likely competing with Kohl Drake for the last spot in the rotation when Michael Soroka (glute) returns from the injured list.

McLain went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the A's.

McLain has been an active part of Cincinnati's lineup, starting in every game, since returning from the 10-day injured list in late July due to a calf injury. The second baseman has continued his light hitting (4-for-19 with two extra base-hits), but he hit a clutch long ball Wednesday to right to give the Reds a 2-1 lead. The homer ends a 27-game power drought that dated back to June 7.

General manager Ben Cherington said that there is no timeline for Cruz (hand) to return from the injured list, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Cruz was cleared for all baseball activities July 29, seemingly paving the way for him to return from the 60-day injured list Aug. 7. However, Cherington only made a vague statement that Cruz is making progress and on track, with the hope that he returns to games soon. While it sounds like Cruz is still nearing activation, that may not occur until closer to mid-August.

Pagan struck out one without allowing a baserunner over one inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.

Pagan now has a win or a save in eight straight appearances for the Reds. The 35-year-old has not walked a batter and has struck out 10 in seven innings during that stretch. Pagan now has a 4.26 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 27 games while converting 13 of 16 save chances this year.

Lowder (4-7) secured the win Wednesday versus the Athletics, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out three.

Lowder picked up his second straight quality start Wednesday and also got his first win since April 20. After a rough start in which he gave up eight runs in 2.1 frames July 18 in Colorado, Lowder has given up six earned runs over 17 innings (3.18 ERA) with a 12:4 K:BB in his last three outings. The 24-year-old is tentatively scheduled to pitch next week against the White Sox.

Polanco went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Guardians.

Polanco had been ice cold coming into Wednesday's contest, going 0-for-26 in his previous eight games. However, he extended the Mets' lead to 2-0 with a solo home run off Tanner Bibee in the third inning -- for his second long ball this season and first since April 11 -- before adding a two-out double in the ninth. Polanco is now slashing .144/.202/.243 with five RBI and seven runs scored through 120 plate appearances.

Wetherholt went 1-for-3 with two walks, a two-run double and a run scored during the Cardinals' 3-1 win over the Yankees on Wednesday.

The game was scoreless heading into the fifth inning, but Wetherholt changed that with a two-run double to center field before being brought home on a ground rule-double by Ivan Herrera. Wetherholt has been scuffling a bit at the plate since the All-Star break with a .659 OPS in 19 games. He's still in the midst of a productive rookie campaign with a .739 OPS with 12 steals, 16 home runs and 43 RBI across 493 plate appearances.

Pallante (12-6) earned the win against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out four across 5.1 innings.

Pallante kept the Yankees off the board through his first five innings, though he was tagged for a run after being lifted in the sixth inning, when George Soriano issued a bases-loaded walk to Jazz Chisholm. Pallante has yielded three earned runs or fewer in five of his last six outings, and he finished Wednesday's start with 13 whiffs and eight groundouts on 103 pitches (57 strikes). His 12 wins are tied for fourth most in the majors this season, and he'll take a 3.63 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 124 innings into his next start, which is lined up for next week at home against the Phillies.

Kerkering threw a clean sixth inning with no strikeouts to pick up a hold Wednesday against the Nationals.

Wednesday's hold marked Kerkering's 13th of the campaign. The right-hander has been a quality high-leverage arm in Philadelphia's bullpen for the most part despite a lack of save chances, posting a 3.27 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 48:25 K:BB across 44 innings with a lone save in three opportunities during 2026.
