McCarthy isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.

McCarthy will miss a third consecutive start Friday after having started three of Arizona's previous four contests. Lourdes Gurriel will take over in left field with Ketel Marte serving as the DH and Blaze Alexander covering the keystone.

Moreno isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.

Moreno will catch a breather Friday after going 4-for-13 with a homer, three RBI and three runs scored during Arizona's last series in Milwaukee. James McCann will draw the start behind home plate instead and bat sixth.

Ramos isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The Giants will give Ramos a breather during Friday's series opener after he went 5-for-10 with a homer, two RBI and four runs scored in three games against the Cubs. Luis Matos will move over to left field as a result, allowing Drew Gilbert to start in right while batting ninth.

Call (back) is feeling much better and will be available off the bench Friday against Arizona, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Call has been tending to lower back pain, but he appears to be over the injury and will be available off the bench Friday. The 30-year-old has slashed .278/.381/.444 in 43 plate appearances with the Dodgers this season, and he's been filling the short side of a platoon role in left field recently.

Freeman (neck) will start at first base and bat third Friday against the Diamondbacks, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

A stinger in Freeman's neck forced him onto the bench for Wednesday's contest, but after an additional day off for the team Thursday, he's ready to rejoin the starting nine. The veteran first baseman has been as good as ever this month, slashing .319/.379/.626 with seven homers, 19 RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases through 103 plate appearances since the start of August.

Edman (ankle) took live at-bats Friday for the first time since landing on the 10-day injured list Aug. 4, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Edman continues to progress in his recovery from a sprained right ankle that landed him on the 10-day IL. The veteran infielder is aiming to be reinstated from the IL in early September, but a timeline for his return should be more once he's been given the green light to embark on a rehab assignment.

The Diamondbacks recalled Lawlar from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Lawlar is back with Arizona for the first time since being optioned to Reno in late May. A Grade 1 hamstring strain held him out from late June to mid-August, which could have delayed his big-league return. The top prospect replaces Pavin Smith (quadriceps) on the active roster. Torey Lovullo said Friday that Lawlar will mostly play on the left side of the diamond while Blaze Alexander moves around, per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com.

Darnell will undergo surgery in mid-to-late September to repair a torn labrum in his left hip, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Darnell was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday due to left hip inflammation. The injury is severe enough for the 28-year-old right-hander to go under the knife, and it's not clear whether he'll be ready to resume baseball activities by the start of spring training. Darnell spent most of the 2025 season with Triple-A Albuquerque but was called up to the Rockies on Aug. 1 and appeared in nine games for the big club, finishing with a 3.86 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 11.2 innings.

The Diamondbacks recalled Garcia from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Garcia has given up five runs (four earned) over just 3.1 innings in the majors this season, but he owns a 3.27 ERA at Triple-A Reno since being sent down at the beginning of the month. He'll now return to the D-backs' bullpen to provide the team with a fresh arm, replacing Taylor Rashi.

The Diamondbacks placed Smith on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 28, with a strained left quad.

Smith was lifted from Wednesday's game against Milwaukee with quad tightness and further evaluation confirmed he's dealing with a strain. Jordan Lawlar was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move, but Tyler Locklear should handle most of the work at first base while Smith is idle.
