Gonsolin underwent an internal brace procedure on his right elbow Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Gonsolin has been on the injured list since early June with elbow soreness. After making minimal progress in his recovery, the 31-year-old opted to go under the knife to address the issue, which will officially end his 2025 campaign after just seven starts. His recovery is expected to take roughly 8-to-10 months, putting him in line to return sometime during the first half of the '26 season.

Stewart was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Tuesday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Stewart last appeared in a contest Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning while allowing one walk and striking out a batter versus the Blue Jays. It's unclear if the shoulder inflammation was a result of that appearance, or if it was something he had previously been dealing with. Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that the team "caught it early," and that the reliever would undergo additional testing Wednesday.

Teng will draw the start in Wednesday's contest against the Padres, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Teng will return to the mound to make his second start of the season with San Francisco. The right-hander worked behind opener Matt Gage in Friday's win over the Nationals, tossing five scoreless innings while striking out four batters. Over two outings, Teng owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with eight punchouts over 8.1 innings, and he'll look to step up to the challenge against an impressive Padres group.

Roupp (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list and start Friday's contest against the Rays, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Roupp is set to make his return to action with the Giants after tossing three innings, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out four batters in a rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday. The right-hander has been on the shelf since July 25 with right elbow inflammation, but he'll rejoin the major-league roster after just 20 days away. Roupp was limited to 50 total pitches in his rehab outing, so he'll likely be on a workload restriction in his return versus Tampa Bay.

Mervis signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Mervis was released by the Marlins last Tuesday after slashing .250/.309/.625 through 149 plate appearances with their Triple-A affiliate in Jacksonville. The 27-year-old will now aim to get back to the majors with the Diamondbacks organization, but he may first need to find more success at Triple-A Reno before garnering consideration for a promotion.

O'Hearn isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

O'Hearn will receive a day off after going 0-for-7 with four walks and two RBI across his last three games. Jose Iglesias will take over as the Padres' designated hitter and bat seventh.

Smith isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Smith will give way to Dalton Rushing behind the plate after the former went 2-for-4 with a run scored during a loss in Monday's series opener.

The Giants recalled Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Fitzgerald has started exclusively at second base with the major-league team this season. However, he played two games in right field after being optioned to Sacramento on July 9 and could see time there with San Francisco this time around. After the demotion, the 27-year-old slashed .250/.333/.346 with two home runs and 28 strikeouts across 117 plate appearances. With his promotion Tuesday, the Giants optioned Carson Whisenhunt to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Landen Roupp (elbow) is nearing activation from the injured list and is the likely candidate to fill the open spot in San Francisco's starting rotation.

Manager Craig Counsell said Taillon (calf) will make a third rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday before returning from the 15-day injured list, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The veteran right-hander allowed one earned run and threw 78 pitches over 4.2 innings during the second start of his rehab assignment last Friday, and he'll make one more start in the minors before returning to the Cubs. Assuming all goes well Wednesday, Taillon will rejoin the Cubs early next week to make a start at Wrigley Field against the Brewers, who have gone 18-4 since the All-Star break and own the best record in baseball.
