Atlanta activated Kim (finger) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Kim had been shelved since July 4 due to right middle finger inflammation. He's gone just 5-for-73 (.068 average) in the majors this season and slashed an underwhelming .216/.355/.353 in 16 rehab contests. Jim Jarvis remains on the active roster and could continue to serve as Atlanta's primary shortstop over Kim.

The Padres transferred Adam (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Adam's initial placement on the IL was retroactive to June 30, so he won't be eligible for activation until Aug. 29 after Monday's transaction, which was made for the purpose of opening up a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly acquired Hunter Stratton. According to MLB.com, Adam has yet to start a throwing program but is expected to resume playing catch in the near future while he works his way back from a right shoulder strain.

The Cardinals recalled Dobbins from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Dobbins has made four starts and three relief appearances for St. Louis this season, logging a 3.74 ERA an 32:11 K:BB over 33.2 innings. It's unclear at this point whether the Cardinals have a start mapped out for Dobbins or if they plan to make him available in long relief.

With the Cubs adding Kevin Gausman and Clay Holmes before Monday's trade deadline, Rea could slot back into a bullpen role, Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Chicago was busy bolstering its rotation before the deadline, and the Cubs now have Matthew Boyd and Shota Imanaga at the top, along with the newcomers Gausman and Holmes. David Peterson has also pitched well lately, and Edward Cabrera (hamstring) is expected back soon. Given all the other starting options now on the roster, Rea figures to slide into a long-relief role, though he's certainly capable of making spot starts if needed. The veteran righty has 4.59 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 117.2 innings this season, and 19 of his 23 appearances to date have come as the starting pitcher, so he should be able to give the team some length out of the bullpen when called upon.

The Pirates acquired Moore from the Padres on Monday in exchange for right-hander Hunter Stratton.

Moore is a 26-year-old reliever who has never pitched in the majors. He has posted a 6.14 ERA with more walks (19) than strikeouts (17) in 14.2 innings at Triple-A this season.

Jordan is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Jordan will hit the bench for the series opener while Jose Fermin picks up a start at third base. Since the All-Star break, Jordan has produced a .245/.275/.347 slash line with no home runs or stolen bases, eight RBI and three runs in 14 games.

The Padres acquired Stratton from the Pirates on Monday in exchange for right-hander Andrew Moore.

Stratton was designated for assignment a couple days ago by Pittsburgh, but the Padres were able to find a spot for him on their 40-man roster. Stratton, a 29-year-old righty, already went through this process earlier in the season when Atlanta DFA'd him, and he was then dealt to Pittsburgh for catcher Joey Bart. He's logged 32.2 innings in the minors and 3.1 innings in the majors this season.

The Cubs optioned Dean to Triple-A Iowa on Monday.

After being promoted from Iowa on June 19, Dean logged just 10 plate appearances, with the Cubs mainly using him as a pinch runner or late-inning defensive replacement. Kevin Alcantara was called up from Triple-A to replace Dean on the Chicago bench.

The Cubs recalled Alcantara from Triple-A Iowa on Monday. He'll start in left field and bat ninth in the series opener versus the Dodgers.

Just over a week after being sent to Iowa, Alcantara will join the big-league roster as a replacement for Justin Dean, who was optioned to Triple-A. Alcantara has seen limited opportunities with the Cubs this season but has produced a .271/.363/.542 slash line with 17 home runs over 273 plate appearances at Iowa.

The Phillies acquired Thomas from the Athletics on Monday in exchange for right-hander Seth Johnson.

Thomas owns a .628 OPS with 10 home runs and a 34 percent strikeout rate in 253 big-league plate appearances. The 25-year-old was one of the Athletics' better prospects not long ago, and he's a career .285/.360/.546 hitter in the minors who is under team control through 2031, making him an interesting flier for Philadelphia. Thomas will likely report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley initially, but the right-handed hitter could get some chances with the Phillies versus left-handed pitching down the stretch.
