Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.

Ohtani began the game with a bang, smoking a 414-foot homer off star hurler Garrett Crochet in the first inning. That was the only time the two-way star managed to put the ball in play, however, as he struck out in his remaining three at-bats. Ohtani has been boom-or-bust of late -- he's homered six times over his past seven games but has also struck out 14 times during that stretch. That's been a season-long trend for the slugger -- he ranks second in MLB with 38 long balls but is also tied for sixth with 124 punchouts.

Kershaw (4-2) took the loss against Boston on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings.

Kershaw's stuff isn't what it used to be, but he's mostly been able to remain effective this season, as he entered Saturday with a 3.27 ERA. However, the southpaw's lack of a put-away pitch hurt him against the Red Sox, especially in the second inning -- in that frame, he got to an 0-2 or 1-2 count to each of the first three batters he faced, but all three reached base against him as Boston scored three times. Kershaw tallied just two strikeouts overall, marking his fourth straight start with three or fewer punchouts, and his 5.9 K/9 is on pace to be the lowest of his career by a wide margin. That said, Kershaw still sits at a respectable 3.62 ERA on the campaign. He's lined up to face the Rays on the road his next time out.

Harris went 4-for-4 with a home run, two triples, a double, three total runs and two total RBI in Saturday's extra-inning loss to the Rangers.

Harris was the catalyst of Atlanta's offense in the loss, logging half of the team's eight hits. All of those knocks went for extra bases, and when he came up to the plate in the top of the ninth inning needing a single for a cycle, he instead laced a triple to left field and subsequently scored a run to temporarily give Atlanta a lead. Harris has struggled for the majority of the season, but he finally appears to be heating up. The outfielder has reached base in 10 of his past 11 games, batting .390 (16-for-41) with three homers, three doubles, nine runs and six RBI during that span.

Iglesias blew a save opportunity Saturday versus Texas, allowing one run one one hit and one walk over one inning.

Iglesias entered in the ninth inning with Atlanta holding a one-run lead. He retired the first batter he faced but then allowed a walk and a double as the Rangers tied the score. Iglesias got the game into extra frames by inducing a double-play lineout, but Atlanta ended up losing in the 10th. This was the veteran closer's fifth blown save of the campaign, though it was his first since June 5. Iglesias has struggled to open the second half of the season, allowing five runs over four innings through four outings.

Snell (shoulder) tossed 4.2 scoreless innings in a minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, allowing four walks and giving up zero hits while striking out seven batters.

Snell was a bit wild in the outing, as he threw just 40 of 76 pitches for strikes while issuing four free passes. However, he was otherwise dominant, racking up seven punchouts without yielding a hit. Given that he was able to ramp up his pitch count within the range of a light starter's workload, it seems likely that Snell's next outing will come in the majors. If that's the case, his return to the Dodgers' rotation could come next weekend against his former team, the Tampa Bay Rays.

Quero was placed on Triple-A Nashville's injured list and will miss 3-to-4 weeks due to a mild left shoulder sprain, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Quero was pulled from Wednesday's contest after four innings as he appeared to hurt his shoulder while trying to tag out a baserunner earlier in the game. The young backstop missed most of the 2024 campaign due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder, but this appears to be a milder injury to the other shoulder and shouldn't keep him out for the remainder of the campaign. Quero could be back in action in late August if he hits his expected return timeframe.

Gage will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Sunday's matchup against the Mets, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Gage will begin what's slated to be a bullpen game for the Giants, with righty Carson Seymour likely to handle multiple innings once the left-hander exits the contest. Though Gage will be making his first MLB start, he's unlikely to cover more than an inning or two. Gage has yet to give up a run through nine appearances across stints with the Tigers and Giants this season, and he's posted a 7:3 K:BB over 9.2 frames.

Washington optioned Beeter to Triple-A Rochester after acquiring him in a trade with the Yankees on Saturday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Though the Nationals have a roster spot available after utility player Amed Rosario was moved to the Yankees on Saturday in the trade for Beeter and outfield prospect Browm Martinez, the right-hander is going to begin his tenure with Washington in the minors. Infielder Jose Tena is expected to be called up to fill Rosario's roster spot, per Andrew Golden of The Washington Post.

Tena began the season on the big-league roster but was sent down to Rochester on June 15. In 44 games earlier this season with Washington, he slashed .248/.325/.365 with no homers, 13 RBI and two stolen bases. Tena played mostly at third base while in the majors but also logged action at second base in two games. He figures to give the Nationals some versatility in the infield after Amed Rosario was traded to the Yankees on Saturday.

Young underwent X-rays on his right index finger Saturday that returned negative, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Young took a pitch off his right index finger while trying to bunt Saturday and was unable to finish the at-bat. He received good news when X-rays returned negative after the contest, but he's still deemed day-to-day. Alex Call could get a chance to start in the outfield Sunday if Young is unable to play.
