Pomeranz worked around a hit to toss a scoreless inning and earn a hold in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals. He struck out one.

Pomeranz got the nod in the eighth inning of a close game instead of Ryan Pressly, who last pitched Tuesday. Pressly recorded a save as recently as June 12, though since then, Daniel Palencia has rattled off three saves, including his eighth of the season Thursday. Palencia has been excellent and seems to be strengthening his grip on the closer role, but it appears that the bullpen is a bit fluid in front of him. Pomeranz has also been excellent this season, as he still hasn't allowed an earned run across 21.2 innings. The lefty also has five holds and a save, and his strong play figures to keep him in a high-leverage role for the Cubs moving forward, along with Pressly and the recently activated Porter Hodge.

Adames went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Marlins.

All three hits were singles for the shortstop. Since June 10, Adames has gone 17-for-54 (.315) with four home runs, one double, nine RBI and a 7:15 BB:K across 15 games. That's a large enough sample to suggest he's working his way out of the struggles that defined the better part of his first two months of the season. He's at a .215/.298/.349 slash line with nine home runs, 35 RBI, 43 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and four stolen bases through 80 contests overall.

Perkins (shin) had his rehab assignment moved to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

Perkins began his assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on June 14 and slashed .389/.500/.389 with two RBI, one stolen base, a 4:4 BB:K and no extra-base hits through seven games. The outfielder fractured his shin in late February and has spent the entire season on the injured list, but he could be ready to make his 2025 debut with the Brewers once he gets in a few more games under his belt with Nashville. Once activated, Perkins projects to serve as a fourth outfielder for Milwaukee.

Devers went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Marlins.

Devers is now 9-for-35 (.257) with four extra-base hits and five RBI over his first nine games with the Giants. He got them on the board in the third inning, and while they were able to overcome an early 5-0 deficit, the Marlins' second wind proved to be too much. Devers has a .270/.396/.502 slash line with 17 homers, 63 RBI, 50 runs scored, one stolen base and 20 doubles across 82 games between the Giants and the Red Sox this season. He's recently been playing through a mild groin issue, which continues to limit him to designated hitter.

Birdsong (3-2) allowed seven runs on four hits and four walks while striking out one over four-plus innings to take the loss Thursday versus the Marlins.

Birdsong gave up a three-run home run to Kyle Stowers in the first inning as well as a two-run blast to Agustin Ramirez in the third. More trouble popped up in the fifth, which led to Birdsong's exit from the contest. It's a second shaky outing in a row -- the 23-year-old has allowed 12 runs (11 earned) over his last 8.1 innings. He's now at a 4.13 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 56:24 K:BB across 56.2 innings over 18 appearances (seven starts) this season, and he's trending in the wrong direction. It's unclear at this time if his rotation spot is in danger. He's tentatively scheduled for a road start in Arizona early next week.

Schmitt's CT scan on his injured left wrist came back negative Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Schmitt was hit by a pitch on his left wrist Wednesday and was held out of the lineup Thursday versus Miami. The versatile infielder underwent imaging, the results of which showed that he doesn't have a fracture. It's not yet clear if Schmitt will need to miss additional time, and for now he can be considered day-to-day.

Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 12-5 win over the Giants.

Ramirez has logged a trio of multi-hit efforts over his last six games, going 8-for-22 (.364) with two homers and seven RBI in that span. The catcher is warming up but still has a .247/.294/.466 slash line through 55 contests overall. He's added 12 homers, 30 RBI, 28 runs scored, 12 doubles and one stolen base through his first 55 MLB contests. Ramirez is playing nearly everyday between catcher and designated hitter, though the Marlins also have backstops Nick Fortes and Liam Hicks in the mix.

Busch went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals.

Busch's second-inning homer stood as the game winner, and he later came around to score again in the fourth. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a stellar June, going deep six times with 16 RBI and a .994 OPS across 21 games. On the season, he's slashing .273/.363/.506 with 13 home runs, 46 RBI, 36 runs scored and four steals over 284 plate appearances.

Stowers went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and two walks in Thursday's 12-5 win over the Giants.

Stowers provided the Marlins with a good start, delivering a first-inning homer to open the scoring. The outfielder has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 6-for-20 (.300) with two homers, three doubles and four RBI in that span. Overall, Stowers is at a .275/.351/.482 slash line with 12 long balls, 38 RBI, 35 runs scored and three stolen bases over 75 games this season.

Pallante (5-4) took the loss against the Cubs on Thursday, giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts over five innings.

Pallante allowed a solo homer in the second inning -- his first homer surrendered since June 3 -- and issued a bases-loaded walk in the fourth. It was a mixed outing for the 26-year-old, who generated 12 whiffs but threw just 52 strikes on 94 pitches. He'll carry a 4.43 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 60:29 K:BB across 87.1 innings into a road matchup with the Pirates next week.
