  • Padres' Tirso Ornelas: Sent back to Triple-A

The Padres optioned Ornelas to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

The 25-year-old was called up by San Diego on April 19 and will return to El Paso after going 1-for-14 with two walks and two strikeouts in his first seven big-league games. Ornelas, who is one of the Padres' top prospects, could get another look in the majors later this year, but for now he'll head back to Triple-A, where he has a .281/.418/.359 slash line through 79 plate appearances this year.

  • Padres' Brandon Lockridge: Back from injured list

The Padres activated Lockridge (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Friday..

He's been out since mid-April with a left hamstring strain and will skip a rehab assignment and go right back on the active roster. Lockridge was the primary fill-in in center field for Jackson Merrill (hamstring) when he got hurt, but with Tyler Wade playing well lately, Lockridge could be limited to starts against lefties.

  • Liover Peguero SS | PIT

Pirates' Liover Peguero: Recalled from Triple-A

The Pirates recalled Peguero from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Peguero, 24, has slashed .258/.309/.382 with one home run and three stolen bases this season with Indianapolis. He'll likely operate in a utility infielder role for Pittsburgh.

  • Pirates' Hunter Stratton: Sent down to minors

The Pirates optioned Stratton to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Stratton had been called up earlier this week and made two appearances, allowing a total of four runs over 1.2 innings. Utility player Liover Peguero is taking his spot on the roster.

  • Jake Fraley RF | TB

Reds' Jake Fraley: On bench again vs. lefty

Fraley is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals.

It's the third straight game on the bench for Fraley since the Reds have faced a trio of left-handed starting pitchers. Blake Dunn will take over in right field against Washington lefty Mitchell Parker.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Reds' Gavin Lux: Sitting versus lefty

Lux is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals.

Lux started the previous six games, including the last two against lefties, but he'll take a seat Friday while in the midst of an 0-for-10 slump. Santiago Espinal will enter the lineup in left field versus Washington southpaw Mitchell Parker.

  • Marlins' Valente Bellozo: Recalled ahead of Friday's start

The Marlins recalled Bellozo from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Bellozo is set to start Friday's game versus the Athletics and could earn additional starts until Ryan Weathers (forearm) is ready to return. The right-hander threw 2.1 innings with Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, so he'll likely have his workload truncated as he pitches on short rest.

  • Austin Hays LF | SD

Reds' Austin Hays: Out with hamstring strain

The Reds placed Hays on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to April 29, due to a left hamstring strain.

The 29-year-old hasn't seen the field since Monday due to the hamstring issue, and he'll be sidelined for at least another week after being diagnosed with a strain. Hays has delivered a .365/.431/.712 slash line with five homers through the first month of the season, but this is already his second stint on the injured list after missing the start of the campaign due to a calf strain.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Activated from injured list

The Reds activated Stephenson (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Stephenson is set to make his season debut after missing the first month-plus of the campaign with a left oblique strain. The Reds will carry three catcher for now, as Jose Trevino and Austin Wynns have both played well. Stephenson will be at the top of the catcher depth chart for the Reds but should be eased back into primary catcher duties.

  • Braves' Ronald Acuna: Couple weeks away from rehab stint

Acuna (knee) is likely still a couple weeks away from beginning a rehab assignment, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Bowman notes that the timeline is a "best guess" on his part and that Atlanta still doesn't know exactly when Acuna will gain clearance to play in rehab games. The outfielder was cleared to ramp up activities a couple weeks ago but is still building strength in his quads as he works his way back from left ACL surgery. A season debut in late May for Acuna looks like the best-case scenario, but early June seems increasingly more likely.
