Reds manager Terry Francona said that Lowder (shoulder) will resume throwing Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Lowder was given an injection in the injured AC joint of his right shoulder earlier this week and officially landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. The right-hander's absence could be relatively brief, but until Lowder is ready, the newly-signed Chris Paddack will hold down a slot in the Reds' rotation.

The Reds list Singer (foot) as their probable starting pitcher for Sunday's game in Cleveland.

Singer's right foot was struck by a 106.7 mile-per-hour line drive during his most recent start Tuesday against the Nationals, but he wasn't forced out of the game early and ended up taking a loss after yielding three earned runs on six hits and one walk over 3.2 innings. The right-hander underwent follow-up X-rays following the start that returned negative, and though he's still tending to some bruising to the foot, the issue doesn't look like it will keep him from making his next turn through the rotation. Though his health seemingly isn't a concern, Singer won't make for a dependable fantasy option heading into his 10th start of the season after turning in a 5.79 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB in 42 innings through his first nine outings.

The Rockies recalled Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Gordon had been optioned Tuesday to make room for Jimmy Herget's (shoulder) return from the bereavement list, but he's now back as Herget goes on the injured list. Though he boasts a 20:4 K:BB over 17 innings, Gordon holds a 6.35 ERA in large part due to serving up five long balls. He'll be available in long relief.

The Rockies placed Herget on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right shoulder impingement, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Herget just returned from the bereavement list Tuesday and is now out for at least the next couple weeks. Tanner Gordon will absorb Herget's spot on the Rockies' active roster.

Mlodzinski is slated to pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Mason Montgomery in Thursday's game against the Rockies in Pittsburgh, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Mlodzinski will work behind an opener for the second time this season, with the right-hander having previously followed Montgomery in an April 15 game against the Nationals. The arrangement didn't end up suppressing Mlodzinski's workload; in fact, the 27-year-old covered six innings in that game against Washington, matching his longest appearance of the season. Montgomery is likely to work just an inning or two before handing the ball over to Mlodzinski, who takes a 4.50 ERA and 1.45 WHIP into Thursday's contest.

The Marlins optioned Ekness to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

Ekness held his own in his first stint in the big leagues, allowing one run with a 5:5 K:BB in 5.1 innings. The hard-throwing righty could eventually settle into a high-leverage relief role for Miami, but he'll head back to Jacksonville for now to accommodate the arrival of Braxton Garrett.

The Marlins recalled Garrett from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

Garrett will start Thursday's game versus the Twins in place of the injured Robby Snelling (elbow) in what will be his first outing with the big club this season. The left-hander has been fantastic for Jacksonville in the early going, collecting a 2.30 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 32:15 K:BB in 31.1 innings. With Snelling facing a potentially lengthy absence, Garrett should have a spot in the Miami rotation nailed down indefinitely.

Greene (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session May 26, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

It will be his first time throwing off the mound since he underwent surgery in mid-March to remove bone chips from his right elbow. Greene will eventually progress to facing hitters and then go out on a rehab assignment. The Reds don't expect Greene to return before July, but more will be known about a timeline after he gets deeper into his throwing progression.

Karros is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh.

Karros' playing time has been trending downward lately, as this is the second time in the last three games and the fourth time across the last 12 tilts that he's been out of the lineup. Willi Castro will play third base for Colorado.

McCarthy is not in the lineup for Thursday's tilt in Pittsburgh.

The Pirates are going with a left-handed opener in Mason Montgomery before turning things over to a righty bulk reliever in Carmen Mlodzinski. McCarthy could enter mid-game once Mlodzinski comes in, but he'll begin the contest on the bench.
