  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Not starting Saturday

McCutchen isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.

McCutchen will receive a day off Saturday after his 1-for-4 performance during Friday's win. Joey Bart will step in to serve as Pittsburgh's designated hitter while batting sixth.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Back in lineup

Cruz (ankle) will start in center field and bat leadoff against Atlanta on Saturday.

Cruz missed two games after making an early exit Wednesday with ankle discomfort, but he'll return in time to make at least one more start before the end of the season. The 26-year-old hasn't exactly been ending 2025 on a positive note, however, slashing .179/.258/.286 across 62 plate appearances since the start of September.

  • Nick Yorke 2B | PIT

    Pirates' Nick Yorke: Idle Saturday

Yorke isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Atlanta.

Yorke will catch a breather Saturday after going 2-for-4 and scoring a run during Friday's victory. Spencer Horwitz will shift to second base while Yorke is on the bench, opening up first base for Rafael Flores.

  • Freddy Peralta SP | MIL

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Set for light workload Sunday

Brewers manager Pat Murphy suggested Friday that Peralta will be on a limited pitch count in his final start of the regular season Sunday versus the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Heading into play Saturday, the Brewers sit one game ahead of the Phillies for the best record in baseball and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Even if the Brewers drop Saturday's game against Cincinnati to leave something at stake Sunday, Murphy seems inclined to prioritize easing up on Peralta's workload heading into the NLDS rather than counting on the team's ace to make a normal start. Peralta has tossed 174.2 innings through his first 32 starts, narrowly surpassing the career-high 173.2 he tossed in 2024.

  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Taking seat Saturday

Fermin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Arizona.

Fermin will get a chance to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-10 with a walk and a run scored over his last three contests. Elias Diaz will bat ninth while catching for starter Michael King.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Absent from Saturday's lineup

Machado isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Machado will grab a seat on the bench Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's game. Jose Iglesias will pick up a start at third base and bat sixth while Machado rests.

  • Sal Frelick RF | MIL

    Brewers' Sal Frelick: Idle Saturday

Frelick isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

The Brewers will use a matchup against southpaw Andrew Abbott as a chance to get the lefty-hitting Frelick a breather Saturday. Isaac Collins, Blake Perkins and Jackson Chourio will start across the outfield while Frelick sits.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Not in Saturday's lineup

Contreras isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Contreras will get a day to reset Saturday after going 0-for-11 with four strikeouts over his last three contests. Danny Jansen will replace him behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Will Benson RF | CIN

    Reds' Will Benson: Sitting Saturday

Benson isn't part of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Milwaukee.

Benson will be on the bench for a second straight game, as southpaw Robert Gasser takes the mound for the Brewers on Saturday. Benson hasn't logged multiple hits in a game since Aug. 1, but he's hitting .234 during that stretch. Spencer Steer, TJ Friedl and Noelvi Marte will fill the outfield from left to right.

  • Austin Hays LF | CIN

Reds' Austin Hays: Out again Saturday

Hays (back) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Milwaukee.

Hays hasn't appeared in a game since Sept. 20 due to back spasms. Reds manager Terry Francona said Friday that Hays tried hitting Thursday and still felt discomfort. Spencer Steer will fill left field Saturday.
