Lowe is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers due to left knee discomfort, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Lowe presumably sustained the injury over the weekend against the Rays and is not starting for a second consecutive game. Manager Don Kelly downplayed the issue and indicated the second baseman could be available off the bench Tuesday.

The Giants selected Haase's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Haase's selection comes as a corresponding move to Daniel Susac (elbow) being placed on the 10-day injured list along with Jose Butto (arm) being transferred to the 60-day injured list. Haase has slashed .250/.300/.472 across 40 plate appearances in nine games for Sacramento to begin 2026. He'll serve as the backup catcher to Patrick Bailey with Susac down.

The Giants transferred Butto (arm) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Butto has already been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery Saturday to repair an artery in his arm, so moving to 60-day IL has no impact on his timeline. He'll cede his spot on the 40-man roster to Eric Haase, who was selected from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Daniel Susac (elbow) on the active roster.

The Giants placed Susac on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right elbow neuritis, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Susac is expected to miss 2-to-3 weeks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Susac has gone 11-for-23 at the plate in the big leagues this season and seemed to be on his way toward splitting reps behind the plate with Patrick Bailey, but the former will now have to wait at least 10 days before he gets another opportunity to start. Eric Haase will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to give the Giants depth at catcher.

Manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Palencia underwent an MRI that revealed a lat strain, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Palencia initially landed on the injured list Friday with a left oblique strain, but imaging has since confirmed that he's dealing with a lat issue. Counsell noted that the 26-year-old reliever is responding very well to treatment and could begin throwing by the time the Cubs begin their weekend series in Los Angeles. If his rehab continues to progress smoothly, he may be cleared to return to Chicago's bullpen in about two weeks.

Wheeler (shoulder) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday in Atlanta, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Wheeler made his fifth and final rehab start Sunday with Double-A Reading, throwing 77 pitches while allowing four runs across four innings. The veteran right-hander's performance was up-and-down during the rehab stint, as he finished with a 5.85 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 23:5 K:BB over 20 frames. Now fully recovered from surgery to address venous thoracic outlet syndrome, Wheeler should be able to handle a mostly normal workload in his first start of the season Saturday.

The Dodgers optioned Ward to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 28-year-old went 2-for-6 with an RBI during his first two games in the majors, but he'll be sent back to Triple-A now that Freddie Freeman has returned from paternity leave. Ward owns a 1.020 OPS through 81 plate appearances at Oklahoma City this season, but it will be hard for him to secure regular opportunities with the big club.

The Dodgers reinstated Freeman from the paternity list Tuesday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

After spending two days away from the team to spend time with his family, Freeman will return to the Dodgers for the start of their three-game set in San Francisco. Ryan Ward was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Carroll (back) will start in right field and bat second Tuesday against the White Sox.

Carroll made an early exit from Sunday's game due to lower-back tightness, but after getting a chance to rest during Arizona's off day Monday, he will return without missing a start. The star outfielder has been phenomenal on offense to begin the year, slashing .300/.390/.600 with three homers, 16 RBI, 15 runs scored and two steals through 20 games.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Vaughn (hand) has started swinging a bat, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Vaughn is just over three weeks removed from left hamate bone surgery and has finally taken a significant step in the rehab process. He will require some rehab at-bats before rejoining the Brewers' active roster, but it's unclear when he might be ready to begin a rehab assignment. Vaughn hopes to be activated by early-to-mid May.
