Nootbaar is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Lefty ace Chris Sale is on the bump for Atlanta, so the Cardinals are loading up their lineup with righty bats. The right-handed-hitting Nelson Velazquez will cover left field while the lefty-swinging Noobaar sits.

Bichette is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest against the Red Sox.

It's the first day off this season for Bichette, who has collected a .610 OPS and is without a home run across his last 14 games. Brett Baty is getting a start at third base, and Zack Short will cover second base for the Mets.

Ohtani has been scratched from Friday's start against the Diamondbacks due to continued irritation in his left knee.

Ohtani will serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter Friday and for the rest of the weekend, but he will not pitch because of a nagging knee issue that first popped up a month ago. According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, Ohtani will have the knee drained and will likely receive an injection over the All-Star break, which will prevent him from participating in the All-Star Game. Kyle Hurt will start what will be a bullpen game for the Dodgers in Friday's series opener versus the Diamondbacks.

Chourio is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Pittsburgh.

Chourio is off to a slow start in July with a .225/.279/.350 batting line in 10 games, so he will get a day off to regroup. Luis Lara will draw a start in left field and bat sixth for the Brewers.

Suzuki (cramps) will start in right field and bat cleanup in Friday's game versus the Reds.

Suzuki was forced to depart Thursday's game in Baltimore due to cramps, but he was fine shortly after the contest ended and will not have to miss a start. The 31-year-old has homered in back-to-back games.

Hicks is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Guardians.

Hicks made nine straight starts after coming off the injured list, so he's earned a breather. Joe Mack is catching, Kyle Stowers is at first base and Leo Jimenez will be the Marlins' designated hitter Friday.

The Athletics recalled Meneses from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

With Zack Gelof (knee) headed to the 10-day IL, Meneses will provide some depth at first base and in the corner outfield spots. He's taken 18 plate appearances with the Athletics this season, going 2-for-14 with two RBI and three walks. Meneses has a .947 OPS with 12 homers and 80 RBI at Triple-A.

Realmuto is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Detroit.

It's a routine day off after Realmuto started each of the previous four contests behind the dish. Rafael Marchan will do the catching for the Phillies in the series opener.

The Athletics placed Gelof on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right knee laceration.

Gelof suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Tigers, and he'll now be sidelined through the All-Star break. Gelof had just returned from the injured list July 4 after he dealt with a hand laceration. The 26-year-old is in the midst of a career season, slashing .273/.327/.476 with 11 homers, 29 RBI, 41 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a 14:62 BB:K across 247 trips to the plate. Jeff McNeil could see an uptick in playing time while Gelof is sidelined.

The Mets placed Vientos on the 10-day injured list Friday with a fractured right hand.

Vientos suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Royals when he was hit by a Michael Wacha pitch. He is expected to be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks, per Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv, so Vientos will likely be unavailable for the Mets until at least late August.
