The Mets selected Short's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Short will provide some infield protection with Marcus Semien (hip) and Mark Vientos (hand) sidelined. The right-handed-hitting Short could see some starts against left-handed pitching.

The Mets recalled Myers from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Myers was just sent down Thursday, but he's already back to grab the roster spot vacated by the injured Mark Vientos (hand). The right-hander has collected a 6.14 ERA in three starts and 22 relief outings for the Mets this season.

Pasquantino (hand) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles.

Despite being activated from the 10-day injured list earlier in the day, Pasquantino will not be in the starting nine against Baltimore for Friday's series opener. Instead, Salvador Perez will man first base and bat sixth with Nick Loftin hitting eighth and handling DH duties.

The Cardinals are in agreement with Wetherholt on a long-term contract extension, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the deal is worth eight years and $112.5 million and could max out at $132 million if all escalators are reached. Wetherholt is the likely National League Rookie of the Year front-runner, sporting a .267/.362/.411 batting line with 13 home runs, nine stolen bases and a 38:61 BB:K over 87 contests. The 23-year-old is also leading all second basemen in outs above average at plus-16.

Emerson is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.

It appears to be a routine day off for the 20-year-old infielder after making 15 consecutive starts. Emerson is slashing just .206/.282/.404 with seven long balls, 19 RBI, 17 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 13:54 BB:K across his first 156 big-league plate appearances. With Emerson getting the night off, J.P. Crawford is manning shortstop and leading off for the Mariners, while Buddy Kennedy bats ninth and plays third base.

Lile is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.

The left-handed-hitting Lile will get a break as the Yankees send southpaw Ryan Weathers to the hill. Andres Chaparro is getting a start in Lile's place and will occupy the designated-hitter slot.

The Twins acquired Nance from the Blue Jays in exchange for Ryan Sprock on Friday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

The Blue Jays will also acquire international bonus pool money as part of the trade. The 35-year-old Nance will help bolster Minnesota's bullpen after he produced a 3.82 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB across 33 innings for Toronto during the first half of the season. He was a big part of the Blue Jays' relief mix down the stretch last season, recording a 1.99 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB over 31.2 frames during the 2025 regular season.

The Brewers designated McGee for assignment Friday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Bryse Wilson. McGee has made two scoreless appearance for the Brewers this season and holds a 5.62 ERA and 43:17 K:BB over 41.2 innings with Triple-A Nashville.

Dingler (thumb) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.

Dingler was removed from Wednesday's game after a foul tip caught him in the thumb. He'll miss a second straight start behind the plate, as Jake Rogers will start at catcher and bat ninth for Detroit. Dingler remains day-to-day headed into the final series before the All-Star break.

The Brewers optioned Rom to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Rom has made five appearances out of the Milwaukee bullpen this season, allowing two runs with an 11:4 K:BB in 5.2 frames. The Brewers wanted more length in their bullpen, so they're replacing Rom with Bryse Wilson.
