  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Sent to 7-day IL

The Padres placed Fermin (concussion) on the 7-day injured list Sunday.

Fermin was diagnosed with a concussion following his early exit Saturday, when he was hit in the mask by a warm-up pitch in the sixth inning. San Diego called up Blake Hunt from Triple-A El Paso to work behind the plate with Rodolfo Duran, who will handle catching duties during Sunday's series finale in Baltimore.

  • Royals' Carter Jensen: Drives in three runs Saturday

Jensen went 2-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Astros.

Jensen doubled up on doubles, with his second two-bagger of the night coming with the bases loaded and clearing them in the sixth inning. The catcher is in the midst of a modest six-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 7-for-24 (.292) with a homer, four doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored. On the year, the 22-year-old is slashing .220/.289/.393 with eight homers, 13 doubles, 35 RBI and 29 runs across 242 plate appearances.

  • Seiya Suzuki RF | CHC

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Playing through knee issue Sunday

Suzuki (knee) will serve as the Cubs' designated hitter and No. 5 batter in Sunday's game against the Giants.

Though the Cubs will turn to Michael Conforto to cover right field, the right knee issue that forced Suzuki out of Saturday's contest in the fourth inning won't keep him out of the lineup entirely Sunday as he looks to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. Given that Suzuki tweaked the same knee in the World Baseball Classic and opened the season on the injured list, it wouldn't be surprising if the Cubs limited him to DH duties for the next few games as a precaution.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Mariners' Patrick Wisdom: Back in bench role

Wisdom is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

After making five consecutive starts and going 2-for-18 with two walks and a run, Wisdom has been relegated to the bench for the Mariners' subsequent four contests. Miles Mastrobuoni has been the main option at third base since coming off the 60-day injured list Wednesday, but he'll shift into a utility role once J.P. Crawford (hand) makes his return from the 10-day IL on Tuesday. When Crawford gets activated, Wisdom could be at risk of being pushed off the roster.

  • Mariners' Miles Mastrobuoni: Drawing fifth straight start

Mastrobuoni will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Mastrobuoni has gotten five straight starts (four at third base, one at second) while going 3-for-13 with a walk, a stolen base, two runs and an RBI. His run of regular playing time will likely come to an end Tuesday, however, with J.P. Crawford (hand) set to return from the 10-day IL and bump Mastrobuoni into a utility role.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Out of Sunday's lineup

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Alvarez will sit for the second time in three games as the Mets continue to ease him back into the fold after meniscus surgery. He's gone 3-for-14 with a home run in four contests since coming off the IL. Luis Torrens is starting behind the plate and batting ninth Sunday.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Likely out until All-Star break

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that Pasquantino underwent surgery Sunday to remove a fractured hamate bone in his right hand and will face a recovery timeline of roughly 4-to-6 weeks, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

The projected timeline is a fairly standard one for hamate surgeries and likely ensures that Pasquantino will be out through the All-Star break. Jac Caglianone is slated to start at first base in Sunday's game against the Astros and should see the bulk of the playing time at the position for the duration of Pasquantino's stint on the 10-day injured list.

  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Starting in return from 7-day IL

The Rockies reinstated Freeman (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Sunday. He'll start in right field and bat second in the Rockies' series finale against the Athletics in Las Vegas.

Colorado optioned Chad Stevens to Triple-A Albuquerque to clear room for Freeman, who ended up missing the minimum amount of time after suffering a concussion June 6. Freeman had been handling a near-everyday role in right field prior to landing on the IL and should be in line for regular playing time now that he's been cleared of the head injury.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Back in starting nine Sunday

Tovar (calf) will start at shortstop and bat fifth Sunday against the Athletics.

Tovar was held out of the starting nine for the first two games of the series in Las Vegas due to left calf soreness, but the 24-year-old was available off the bench for Saturday's 7-5 loss. Though Tovar ultimately went unused in that contest, he'll settle back in at his usual spot at shortstop in the series finale. Tovar has gotten off to a rough start to June, producing just five hits in 33 at-bats (.152) while posting a 1:15 BB:K over eight games.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Taking seat Sunday

Holliday is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Jeremiah Jackson will receive the nod at second base while Holliday appears to be receiving a planned rest day. Holliday had covered the keystone in each of the Orioles' last 11 games, going 6-for-36 (.167) with one home run, five RBI and four runs over that stretch.
