The Angels optioned Fermin to Triple-A Salt Lake following Monday night's game.

Fermin had a scoreless streak of nine appearances entering Monday's game versus Colorado, but he would blow the save by allowing five runs across two-thirds of an inning. With his demotion, the Angels recalled Sam Aldegheri from Salt Lake in a corresponding move.

Interim manager Chad Tracy said Tuesday that Crawford (elbow) is dealing with moderate tightness in his right forearm, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Crawford initially landed on the injured list at the start of the regular season after undergoing wrist surgery last July, but he's now had multiple setbacks with his forearm while ramping up his rehab. The Red Sox will pull back on the intensity of his recovery program following his latest flare-up, and he remains without a firm return timeline.

The Guardians optioned Halpin to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old has been up with Cleveland for the past month but will head back to Columbus with Steven Kwan (personal) coming off the bereavement/family medical emergency list Tuesday. Halpin batted .167 (5-for-30) with a double and two stolen bases in 18 games while up with the big club.

Smith is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Smith is getting some rest after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout during the series opener in Arizona on Monday. Dalton Rushing has the start behind the plate Tuesday and is batting eighth.

Cabrera (finger) will start Saturday's game against the Giants, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Cabrera landed on the injured list in late May with a blister on his right middle finger but is now slated to return to the Cubs' rotation following a near-minimum stay. The 28-year-old righty got off to a strong start this season but has struggled as of late, posting a 5.79 ERA and 1.66 WHIP across 18.2 innings (four starts) in May.

The Padres transferred Pivetta (forearm) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The right-hander landed on the shelf in mid-April due to a flexor strain and isn't expected back anytime soon, so the move to the 60-day IL doesn't affect his return outlook. Pivetta recently returned to playing catch, but he still has a significant way to go in his throwing program before returning to game action.

Garcia (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Single-A Dunedin on Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Garcia has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from a cleanup procedure he underwent on his right elbow in September. He was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in mid-May but suffered a minor setback during his first appearance and was slowed down. He's ready to test his elbow in a game setting again now that he's thrown a few more bullpen sessions without problems, though he will likely require several minor-league outings before the Blue Jays bring him back from the IL.

Boyd (knee) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

If the rehab start goes well for Boyd on Saturday, he will rejoin Chicago afterward. The southpaw made his most recent rehab start Sunday, when he allowed two earned runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts across four innings.

The Padres selected Bowen's contract from Triple-A El Paso, and he's starting in left field and batting seventh Tuesday against the Phillies.

The 25-year-old is taking the place of Ramon Laureano (hip), who was placed on the injured list Tuesday. Bowen will be making his MLB debut and has a decent path to playing time due to Laureano being hurt and Nick Castellanos struggling to a .560 OPS. Bowen has a .292/.362/.600 slash line with 13 home runs and seven steals in 49 games with El Paso this year.

Nance (forearm) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Nance was cleared to begin throwing off a mound Thursday, and he seems to be making considerable progress in his recovery given that he's now facing live hitters. He's scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, and a return from the injured list may come shortly thereafter.
