Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Garrett Cooper: Ends playing career
Cooper announced Sunday via his personal Instagram account that he has retired from professional baseball.
Cooper began the 2025 season at Triple-A Gwinnett in the Atlanta organization, but he was released in May and never caught on with a new team after that. The 34-year-old played in parts of eight major-league seasons, finishing with a solid .265/.333/.427 batting line and 57 home runs. Cooper made one All-Star team in 2022 with the Marlins.

Jung Hoo Lee CF | SF
Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Logs three hits in season finale
Lee went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rockies.
Lee recorded three singles in the season finale, driving in the team's final runs on a two-run base hit in the eighth. With that, the 27-year-old outfielder recorded his 34th multi-hit performance in 150 regular-season appearances. During that span, he slashed .266/.327/.407 with 73 runs scored, 55 RBI, 51 extra-base hits -- including eight long balls -- 10 stolen bases and an 11.5 percent strikeout rate across 617 plate appearances.

Rafael Devers 3B | SF
Giants' Rafael Devers: Caps off season with 35th homer
Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rockies.
Devers launched his 35th homer of the 2025 campaign in the fourth inning, extending his hit streak to eight games. He later reached base on a fielder's choice in the eighth before coming around to score the Giants' final run. Devers was traded to San Francisco in June and appeared in 163 regular-season games between the Giants and Red Sox. Overall, he slashed .252/.372/.479 with 109 RBI, 99 runs scored and one stolen base across 729 plate appearances. His 35 homers marked his highest total since 2021.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Giants' Matt Chapman: Doubles in season finale
Chapman went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rockies.
Chapman lined a double to left field in the fourth inning, marking his 23rd two-bagger of the 2025 campaign. The third baseman took a slight step back in his second season with San Francisco, during which he missed significant time due to a sprained right hand. Over 128 regular-season games, the 32-year-old slashed .231/.340/.430 with 76 runs scored, 61 RBI, 21 home runs and nine stolen bases across 535 plate appearances.

Jake Burger 3B | TEX
Rangers' Jake Burger: Headed for wrist surgery
Burger said after Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Guardians that he plans to undergo surgery later this week to repair a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Burger initially sprained the wrist in mid-August and spent about two weeks on the injured list before returning to action for the final month of the season. However, Burger struggled to a .206 average while striking out at a 28.4 percent clip in September, bringing his slash line down to .236/.269/.419 over 103 games during his first campaign in Texas. Burger -- who also required stints on the shelf due to oblique and quadriceps injuries -- had received a cortisone shot to relieve discomfort in his wrist prior to his return from the IL, but he's hopeful that surgery will offer more permanent relief after he felt the tendon "popping" in and out of place over the past few weeks. Burger is under club control through 2028, and despite his disappointing debut season in Texas, he currently projects to head into spring training atop the depth chart at first base.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Lined up for Game 3 start on mound
Ohtani will be the Dodgers' starting pitcher for Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series versus the Reds, if necessary, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Blake Snell will get the ball in Game 1, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start Game 2. If there is a Game 3, that start will go to Ohtani. The two-way superstar peaked on the mound at the right time, finishing with a 0.46 ERA and 27:4 K:BB over 19.2 innings covering his last four regular-season starts.

Elias Diaz C | SD
Padres' Elias Diaz: Nursing oblique strain
Diaz's status for Tuesday's wild-card series opener versus the Cubs is in question due to a strained oblique, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Diaz tweaked his oblique during Saturday's 12-4 win over the Diamondbacks. The Padres don't believe the injury is serious, but Martin Maldonado and Luis Campusano will travel with the team to Chicago as insurance in case Diaz isn't included on the roster for the wild-card round. Diaz is the clear No. 2 catcher for the Padres behind Freddy Fermin, but he has served as the personal catcher this season for Nick Pivetta, who is slated to start Game 1 of the series.

Joe Elbis SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Joe Elbis: No appearances in 2025
Elbis didn't make any appearances in the majors or minors during the 2025 season after the Diamondbacks placed him on the restricted list April 15.
After the Diamondbacks added Elbis to their 40-man roster last offseason, he was optioned to Double-A Amarillo early in spring training. The 23-year-old righty then opened the Texas League season on Amarillo's 7-day injured list before eventually reverting to the Diamondbacks' restricted list a few weeks later. Arizona hasn't shed any light on why Elbis didn't end up pitching at all this season, and the Diamondbacks will eventually need to add him back to the 40-man roster or designate him for assignment once he's formally reinstated.

Nick Lodolo SP | CIN
Reds' Nick Lodolo: Makes relief appearance Sunday
Lodolo (groin) surrendered one earned run on two hits and two walks over one inning of relief in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Brewers.
After exiting his start in Thursday's win over the Pirates due to a right groin injury, Lodolo received a clean bill of health following a bullpen session earlier Sunday, then was called upon to pitch in relief in a must-win game. Though the Reds ultimately came up short, they backdoored their way into the playoffs after the Mets lost to the Marlins later Sunday to cede the third and final wild-card spot to Cincinnati. Now that Lodolo has seemingly put the groin issue behind him, he could be in line to make a start during the Reds' three-game wild-card series versus the Dodgers that begins Tuesday.

Daniel Lynch SP | KC
Royals' Daniel Lynch: Earns sixth win
Lynch (6-2) earned the win Sunday against the Athletics. He struck out three over 2.1 perfect innings.
Lynch closed the regular season in dominant fashion, retiring all seven batters he faced with a trio of punchouts. His 4.76 FIP is worth noting, but the southpaw turned in solid surface numbers in 2025, recording a 3.06 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 57 appearances and 67.2 innings. The Royals didn't lean on him consistently in high-leverage situations, but he generally delivered when used and often provided more than just a single inning, as he did Sunday.
