Castillo (2-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts over five innings of relief, earning the win despite taking a blown save Sunday versus the Diamondbacks.

Castillo couldn't hold the 1-0 lead in the sixth inning after Bryce Miller's five frames of one-hit ball. This was still a positive showing for Castillo, who has given up just four runs (three earned) over 11.1 innings while adding a 13:6 K:BB over his last three appearances. He has a 5.53 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 56:22 K:BB across 55.1 innings through 12 outings (10 starts) this year. The Mariners' fifth spot in the rotation is set to come up again on the road versus the Tigers -- if the team continues to deploy a tandem, Castillo and Miller would likely share another game despite the pitchers' discomfort with the ongoing arrangement.

Vodnik (elbow) tossed a bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Vodnik hit 95 mph with his fastball during the workout, putting him a few ticks behind his season-long average of 98.8 mph. Even so, the side session represents an important step forward in the recovery process for Vodnik, who was placed on the 15-day injured list May 20 due to right ulnar nerve inflammation. He's slated to throw another side session early during the upcoming week before advancing to facing hitters by the weekend.

Miller allowed a hit and a walk while striking out six over five scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Miller threw 52 of 71 pitches for strikes, making this his lightest workload in four appearances (three starts) since he returned from an oblique injury. He continues to pitch well, but the Mariners are taking plenty of caution with his limited pitch counts. Miller worked in a tandem with Luis Castillo, who allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts over the last five frames of the extra-inning win. Both pitchers have expressed some dislike for the tandem approach, but it's led to positive results for two consecutive turns through the rotation. Miller has an excellent 1.71 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB over 21 innings this season. If the pitching tandem continues, Miller will get the ball at some point during next weekend's series in Detroit.

Peguero suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's 19-6 win over the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Peguero pitched one-third of an inning before sustaining the injury in the bottom of the eighth. The right-hander missed the entire first month of the season while recovering from a Grade 2 hamstring strain that he suffered during spring training, and he could be headed for another stint on the injured list.

Beck (hamstring) was able to begin a running progression this past week, MLB.com reports.

Beck was placed on the 10-day injured list May 18 due to a left hamstring injury, but the fact that he's running again likely indicates that he's working his way back from a low-grade strain. Once he's running the bases at full speed, Beck may need only a brief minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the IL.

Kelly allowed two runs on eight hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out two over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Sunday versus the Mariners.

Kelly's strong pitching continued, but he wasn't able to earn a fifth straight win. He's allowed just nine runs over his last five starts spanning 34.1 innings with a 19:7 K:BB. The veteran right-hander is now at a 5.06 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 33:22 K:BB through 53.1 innings across nine starts this season. Kelly is projected for a home start versus the Nationals in his next outing.

Massey went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Rangers.

Massey did his part as the Royals attempted to mount a comeback, drilling a two-run homer in the eighth inning, though no further scoring followed as the club was ultimately swept in the weekend series. The 28-year-old has received regular opportunities at the keystone against right-handed pitching since Jonathan India (shoulder) was lost for the season, but he has struggled to make a consistent impact. Across 120 plate appearances in 2026, Massey is hitting .234 with a .684 OPS, four homers, 15 RBI, 13 runs and a stolen base.

Latz picked up the save in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Royals. He allowed a hit and no walks while striking out one over a scoreless inning.

Entering with a three-run cushion, Latz brushed off a one-out double from Bobby Witt and retired the side without any damage to secure his seventh save of the campaign. The left-handed hurler emerged as the primary closer in late April for good reason, as he owns a 2.08 ERA and 0.62 WHIP across 26 innings this season. Latz has succeeded by limiting free passes with a 5.5 percent walk rate while missing enough bats to post a solid 25.3 percent strikeout rate.

Davis secured the save Sunday against the Tigers, allowing no baserunners in two-thirds of an inning.

Closer Seranthony Dominguez worked each of the past two days for the White Sox, opening the door for Davis to claim his first save of the season Sunday. The 27-year-old right-hander has operated primarily in middle relief this season and doesn't appear to be a significant threat for ninth-inning work going forward, holding a 3.12 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB with no holds across 17.1 innings.

Montero took a no-decision Sunday against the White Sox, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out four.

Montero was cruising along on the hill Sunday, so it was somewhat surprising to see the Tigers pull him after he threw just 65 pitches (46 strikes). Sunday was the second time this year that the 25-year-old right-hander spun six innings of two-hit ball, and it was also the fourth time already this season that he pitched at least six frames while yielding one run or zero. Montero has emerged as a serviceable member of Detroit's rotation in 2026, posting a 3.69 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB across 61 innings.
