  • MJ Melendez DH | NYM

Mets' MJ Melendez: Out of Friday's lineup

Melendez is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Marlins.

After getting off to a hot start for the Mets, Melendez is just 2-for-35 across his last 18 games. The Mets will go with Jared Young at designated hitter against Marlins right-hander Max Meyer.

  • River Ryan SP | DET

Dodgers' River Ryan: Another strong start at Triple-A

Ryan fired six scoreless innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City against Sugar Land on Thursday, striking out eight and giving up four hits and no walks.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said in mid-May that there was a "slim chance" of the 27-year-old joining the big-league rotation in place of Blake Snell (elbow), and Ryan has remained with Oklahoma City for the past three turns through the rotation. The right-hander has been dominant through five Triple-A starts this year with a 2.05 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 29:3 K:BB across 22 innings. After giving up just three earned runs across four outings in his first taste of the big leagues last year, it's likely only a matter of time before Ryan gets another look in 2026.

  • Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW

White Sox's Tyler Gilbert: Joins big-league roster

The White Sox recalled Gilbert from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

With Jordan Leasure headed to the injured list with a right flexor strain, Gilbert will join Chicago's bullpen mix. The left-hander has appeared in two games for the White Sox this season, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts across 2.2 innings.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Sitting against left-hander

Gorman is out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

St. Louis will leave Gorman out of Friday's lineup against lefty Shota Imanaga. Thomas Saggese will take over at third base for Gorman and hit eighth in the batting order.

  • Jordan Leasure RP | CHW

White Sox's Jordan Leasure: Sent to injured list

The White Sox placed Leasure on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right flexor strain.

Leasure allowed one run on one hit in one inning of work in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Twins and will now miss at least the next couple weeks after posting a 6.27 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB across 18.2 innings this season. Lefty Tyler Gilbert was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Remains out of lineup Friday

Walls (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Despite the off day Thursday, Walls still isn't ready to return to the lineup and will miss a third straight start. Ben Williamson, just activated from the injured list Friday, will start at shortstop and bat sixth for Tampa Bay.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CHC

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Transferred to 60-day IL

The Guardians transferred Arias (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

The move opens up a 40-man roster spot for Stuart Fairchild, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Arias has been sidelined since April 6 due to a hamstring strain that he aggravated last week, but he has been able to resume baseball activities and could still rejoin the Guardians some time in June.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Joining Cleveland roster

The Guardians selected Fairchild's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

With Steven Kwan going on the bereavement list, it opened a spot in the outfield for Fairchild, who has been swinging a hot bat at the Triple-A level this season. He's slashing .289/.417/.479 with five homers, 15 RBI, 31 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a 26:32 BB:K across 176 trips to the plate. Fairchild figures to see most of his chances against left-handed pitching with Cleveland.

  • Cardinals' Nelson Velazquez: Contract selected

The Cardinals selected Velazquez's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Velazquez nearly won an Opening Day roster spot with a big spring but then got off to a slow start at Memphis. However, the 27-year-old earned a promotion after slashing .308/.418/.600 with five home runs for Memphis in May. The right-handed slugger is starting at designated hitter and batting cleanup against Cubs lefty Shota Imanaga on Friday.

  • Cesar Prieto 3B | STL

Cardinals' Cesar Prieto: Sent down to minors

The Cardinals optioned Prieto to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Prieto was promoted in early May and didn't play much, going hitless in 17 plate appearances. He'll see more regular reps at Memphis, where he's slashed .311/.357/.566 this season.
