Madden (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Monday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

It's been a quick bounce-back for Madden, who landed on the 15-day injured list just over a week ago with a bruised right forearm. He's eligible to return from the IL on Sunday and could be activated at that time, though it's unclear what role he might fill. Madden has pitched well as a bulk reliever for the Tigers, posting a 2.38 ERA and 12:2 K:BB over 11.1 innings, but with Troy Melton back in the fold, there might not be room to carry Madden on the big-league roster.

Vargas is not in the lineup for Monday's game in San Francisco.

Vargas is in the middle of a mini slump, having gone hitless over his last five contests. Jose Fernandez will grab a start at first base while Vargas regroups.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Monday that Ragans (elbow) will be shut down for 2-to-3 days after not bouncing back well from Saturday's rehab start with Triple-A Omaha, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Ragans pitched well in the outing, striking out three over 4.1 innings of one-run ball. Quatraro noted that while Ragans' left elbow was not sore during the start, afterward he felt similar symptoms to when he landed on the 15-day injured list earlier this month with an elbow impingement. Ragans had been trending toward rejoining the Royals' rotation this week, but now that he's had a setback, his timetable is up in the air.

Miller picked up a hold in Sunday's 8-5 win over the White Sox, striking out one in a scoreless inning.

Miller entered in the eighth inning and threw seven of his 11 pitches for strikes, earning his sixth hold on the campaign. The left-hander has recorded three straight scoreless outings since surrendering two runs in his return from a back strain May 16. He now owns a 3.77 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 21:12 K:BB across 14.1 innings in 16 games this season.

Urias' (elbow) resumption of a throwing program is considered imminent, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Working his way back from tennis elbow, Urias has progressed to taking dry swings and doing plyometric exercises. He'll resume throwing any day now but is likely still 1-to-2 weeks away from a rehab assignment.

Mautz will be available out of the bullpen for Monday's game in Milwaukee, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Mautz had been slated to start Sunday's game in Cincinnati in what would've been his major-league debut, but that contest got rained out. The Cardinals have opted to keep Mautz on the active roster for the time being, though Ryan Fernandez is on the taxi squad and could replace Mautz as soon as Tuesday.

Soto (illnes) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Soto is battling the flu and will miss a second straight start. It's unclear whether he might be available off the bench. Nick Morabito is starting in left field and Carson Benge is getting a start at designated hitter in Monday's series opener.

Slater elected to become a free agent Sunday.

Slater was removed from the Mets' 40-man roster previously and has decided to hit the free-agent market rather than accept an outright assignment. The veteran outfielder is most-known for his ability to hit left-handed pitching, but the right-handed-swinging Slated is just 7-for-40 (.175) versus southpaws in 2026.

McMahon is not in the lineup for Monday's tilt in Kansas City.

It's a rare instance of the left-handed-hitting McMahon not starting against a right-hander, but it makes sense because righty Michael Wacha has reverse splits. Jose Caballero will slide over to third base and Anthony Volpe will start at second base for the Yankees.

Dunn was penciled in as the leadoff batter Sunday before weather postponed the game, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Dunn served as the leadoff batter in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, becoming the fifth different Red to hit atop the order since manager Terry Francona pulled the plug on the slumping TJ Friedl. "I don't think we have one right now," Francona said of his leadoff hitter Saturday. Dunn was a key contributor in the win Saturday night and is pushing for a role as the team's primary right fielder. This, after Noelvi Marte, Rece Hinds and Will Benson failed to take hold. Dunn has also played center field, as Friedl has been out of the starting lineup more (seven times) than in it (five) over the last 12 contests.
