Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Ohtani (knee) "kicked the can" on his scheduled bullpen session Saturday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

With Ohtani's knee still not feeling 100 percent after first throwing out of the bullpen Wednesday, the 31-year-old decided to cancel his slated bullpen session Saturday. Manager Dave Roberts is still confident that Ohtani will pitch again this season. Despite his knee problems, Ohtani will continue to serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter.

Rutschman (wrist) threw on the field at Camden Yards on Saturday, but has yet to resumed catching the ball, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rutschman has had an injury-riddled 2026 season after hitting the injured list for the third time on Monday. He dealt with a concussion and an ankle injury earlier in the campaign but is currently managing left wrist inflammation, which is preventing him from catching. The 28-year-old is eligible to come off the IL on Wednesday, but he'll need to make significant progress over the next couple days to have a chance of returning so soon.

The Orioles shut down Basallo (shoulder) from baseball activities for a few days to let his right shoulder "calm down," Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

After being sent to the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Baltimore has shut down Basallo for the time being. The 21-year-old will likely need to return to baseball activities within the next couple days to have a chance of coming off the IL when first eligible July 31.

Lowe is out of the lineup for Pittsburgh's matchup against the Cubs on Saturday.

Lowe will ride the bench after going hitless with a walk and a strikeout in four plate appearances during the series opener against Chicago on Friday. Nick Gonzales will move over to second base and bat second for Pittsburgh.

Ryan has been scratched from Sunday's start against the Athletics due to right arm fatigue, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports.

Twins manager Derek Shelton relayed that the Twins expect Ryan to return at some point during the upcoming series against the Royals that begins Tuesday, but a date for the right-hander has not been confirmed. He's coming off a dreadful performance against the Guardians this past Monday, when he allowed eight runs on 10 hits (including a career-worst six home runs) while striking out three across four innings in a loss. A replacement for Ryan on Sunday has yet to be announced.

Crooks isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Crooks went 1-for-3 with a double during Friday's series opener and will now move to the bench to begin Saturday's contest. Ivan Herrera will fill in behind the dish, giving Bryan Torres an opportunity to work as St. Louis' designated hitter.

Diaz is not in Texas' starting lineup against Seattle on Saturday.

Diaz will get a breather after going 2-for-4 in Friday's 5-4 win over the Mariners. Austin Wynns will serve behind home plate Saturday and bat ninth while forming a battery with right-hander Nathan Eovaldi.

Burger is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Mariners on Saturday.

Burger will take a seat after going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI during Texas' 5-4 win over Seattle on Friday. Joc Pederson will start at first base while Alejandro Osuna serves as the designated hitter.

The Rangers recalled Smith from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Since being optioned to Triple-A on July 9, Smith has gone 7-for-34 (.206) with two steals and one RBI. However, he'll return to the big club to fill the void on the 26-man roster left by Josh Jung, who was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left calf strain. Smith will return to major-league action immediately, as he's starting at third base and batting eighth against the Mariners on Saturday.

Jung has been dealing with a left calf injury that he picked up against the White Sox on Tuesday. There was hope that he would be cleared to return to the lineup this weekend, but the injury is severe enough for Jung to warrant a stint on the injured list. The Rangers should have a better sense of Jung's recovery timeline once he undergoes further tests, but the team is hopeful that he'll be ready to return next weekend against the Astros, per Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com. Josh Smith was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
