Yankees' Austin Wells: Expected back Sunday

Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Wells (head) will likely return from the injured list and start Sunday, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Wells landed on the injured list June 6 with cervical headaches but has been playing in rehab games since Tuesday, going 2-for-12 with a pair of homers and an additional RBI across three contests. He'll presumably reclaim his job as New York's primary backstop once he's activated, though he may not take on an everyday role after posting a .533 OPS through 169 plate appearances to begin the season.

  • Luis Garcia 1B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Connects for homer No. 10

Garcia went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Rays.

The infielder slashed at a Griffin Jax sinker in the third inning and drove it the other way over the left-field fence. Garcia has 10 homers on the season, and three of them have come in the last nine games, a stretch in which he's batting .290 (9-for-31) with a double, six runs and eight RBI.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Launches 15th homer

Abrams went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Rays.

The star shortstop took Griffin Jax deep in the second inning to give the Nationals an early lead that didn't last long in an eventual 5-2 loss. It was Abrams' 15th homer of the season and third over 15 games in June, but he's struggling to make a consistent impact this month, slashing .246/.270/.410 with three steals, eight RBI and 12 runs.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

Athletics' Jonah Heim: Launches clutch homer off bench

Heim went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in Friday's extra-inning win over the Angels.

Pinch hitting for Colby Thomas at designated hitter with the Athletics down to their final out in the ninth inning, Heim delivered a towering, two-run homer to tie the game and force an extra inning. It marked his sixth long ball of the season. The veteran backstop faces an uphill battle for regular playing time behind Shea Langeliers, but Heim has been productive enough at the plate to earn starts in four of the past seven games between catcher and designated hitter. In June, the switch hitter has gone 12-for-29 (.414) with four homers, two doubles, five RBI and five runs scored across 11 games.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: June rebound continues

Springer went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Cubs.

The veteran slugger provided the only offense for the Blue Jays in a 16-2 rout, bring home Andres Gimenez with a third-inning single before launching a solo shot off Ben Brown in the sixth. Springer has eight homers on the year, and three of them have come in the last seven games, a stretch in which he's batting .360 (9-for-25) with a double, three steals, five runs and seven RBI.

  • Braves' Mike Yastrzemski: Swats fourth homer

Yastrzemski went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Brewers.

The veteran outfielder took Abner Uribe deep in the seventh inning, providing Atlanta with a needed insurance run in an eventual 3-2 victory. The long ball was Yastrzemski's first since May 21, snapping a 20-game drought, and just his fourth of the season. While working primarily in a strong-side platoon role, he's managed just a .230/.318/.353 slash line over 211 plate appearances with 19 RBI and 27 runs on the year.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Homers in three-RBI effort

Wilson went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three total RBI in Friday's extra-inning win over the Angels.

Wilson laced an RBI single in the third inning before launching a two-run homer in the seventh to cut into the Athletics' deficit in what ultimately turned into a thrilling comeback win. Since returning from the injured list June 12 following a dislocated left shoulder, the shortstop has gone 7-for-27 (.259) with a homer, two doubles, seven RBI and four runs scored while reaching safely in all seven games. Overall, the 24-year-old is slashing .287/.315/.404 with four homers, 10 doubles, 26 RBI, 22 runs and two stolen bases across 46 contests.

  • Matt Svanson RP | STL

Cardinals' Matt Svanson: Rediscovering 2025 form

Svanson has yielded just one hit and has a 6:1 K:BB over eight scoreless innings since being recalled from Triple-A Memphis.

Svanson was optioned to Memphis in May after posting an 8.77 ERA and 26:15 K:BB over 25.2 innings. He tossed 5.2 scoreless frames at the Cardinals' top minor-league affiliate and has carried that momentum over in his return to the majors. Svanson has been used mostly in low-leverage situations since being recalled, but with the way he's pitched he could move back up in the bullpen hierarchy.

  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: All-around impact in win

Butler went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, three additional runs scored, a steal and a walk in Friday's extra-inning win over the Angels.

Butler launched a solo homer in his first at-bat and wound up scoring the game-winning run in the 10th inning as part of a career-best four-run performance. The outfielder started the extra inning on second base and proceeded to steal third, marking his first successful swipe since April 20. The 25-year-old has logged multiple hits in five of his past 11 games as he continues to trend upward in June. Overall, Butler is slashing .193/.274/.305 with five homers, 20 RBI, 26 runs and five stolen bases across 68 contests.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Reworking swing away from games

Gorman has yet to play in any games since being optioned last week, instead reporting to the Cardinals' spring training complex in Florida to rework his swing, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Gorman has slashed just .194/.279/.318 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate this season, and he was in a 3-for-50 slump at the time of his demotion. The 26-year-old relocated to Florida at the start of the week and on Wednesday began working with hitting director Dalton Hurd and minor-league hitting coordinator Brock Hammit. Gorman's primary goal, according to president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, is to "get his swing to a less steep place." As part of their player development overhaul, the Cardinals opened a revamped training facility this year in Florida, and Bloom believes "this is the most-equipped we've been as a staff and programs and facilities to be able to do something like this." Once the team feels he's ready, Gorman will eventually be assigned to Triple-A Memphis to test out his progress in games. Blaze Jordan has taken over as the Cardinals' everyday third baseman since Gorman's demotion and has played well, slashing .300/.323/.533 with one home run and seven RBI in eight games.
