Gorman has yet to play in any games since being optioned last week, instead reporting to the Cardinals' spring training complex in Florida to rework his swing, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Gorman has slashed just .194/.279/.318 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate this season, and he was in a 3-for-50 slump at the time of his demotion. The 26-year-old relocated to Florida at the start of the week and on Wednesday began working with hitting director Dalton Hurd and minor-league hitting coordinator Brock Hammit. Gorman's primary goal, according to president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, is to "get his swing to a less steep place." As part of their player development overhaul, the Cardinals opened a revamped training facility this year in Florida, and Bloom believes "this is the most-equipped we've been as a staff and programs and facilities to be able to do something like this." Once the team feels he's ready, Gorman will eventually be assigned to Triple-A Memphis to test out his progress in games. Blaze Jordan has taken over as the Cardinals' everyday third baseman since Gorman's demotion and has played well, slashing .300/.323/.533 with one home run and seven RBI in eight games.

Story (abdomen) has begun jogging and swinging off a tee, MLB.com reports.

Story is taking the first steps in his return from sports hernia surgery, and Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said the shortstop is "progressing pretty nicely." Story won't be eligible to be activated until the first day following the All-Star break.

Soderstrom went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two walks in Friday's extra-inning win over the Angels.

Soderstrom didn't contribute any marks in the RBI column, but the 24-year-old reached base in all five plate appearances and matched a season high with three hits and three runs scored. Notably, he came around to score on Jonah Heim's game-tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning after lacing a double earlier in the frame. Soderstrom has torn the cover off the ball in June, slashing .305/.431/.661 with six homers, three doubles, 14 RBI and 13 runs scored across 17 games this month.

DeLuca went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 win over the Nationals.

Seeing his first big-league action since May 22 after missing about a month due to a hamstring strain, DeLuca made an immediate impact, wrapping up the scoring on the night by taking Miles Mikolas deep in the eighth inning. DeLuca was starting in right field and batting third in his return -- the first time he's hit third all season -- and he should be the Rays' primary option in right as long as he can stay healthy. Through 129 plate appearances on the year, he's slashing .268/.297/.431 with three homers, six steals, 18 runs and 20 RBI.

Baker struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 19th save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Nationals.

The right-hander is 19-for-22 in converting save chances on the year, an impressive showing for a pitcher who came into 2026 with four career saves and 11 blown saves over the prior four seasons combined while primarily working in middle relief or a setup role. Baker hasn't been charged with a run in 11 straight appearances, delivering a 0.64 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB in 11 innings over that stingy stretch to lower his ERA on the campaign to 1.84.

Osuna started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 9-7 win over San Diego.

Osuna had a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning, as the Rangers scored six times to overcome the five runs the Padres scored in the top of the frame. The left-handed hitter has started all five games since being recalled earlier this week, playing left field and center field. His run of playing time is the result of Evan Carter (oblique) landing on the injured list, and Osuna could be a regular against right-handed starters.

Jax (2-5) picked up the win Friday, giving up two runs on four hits in five innings during a 5-2 victory over the Nationals. He struck out five without walking a batter.

The right-hander sevrved up solo shots to CJ Abrams in the second inning and Luis Garcia in the third, but Jax otherwise kept Washington's hitters at bay over 69 pitches (47 strikes) as he collected his first win since April 18. He's lasted five innings in three straight starts as he continues his adjustment to a rotation role, but as of yet he hasn't recorded an out in the sixth inning in any of his 10 starts this season or thrown more than 72 pitches, usage which limits his fantasy appeal. Jax will take a 3.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 46:18 K:BB through 49 innings into his next outing, which is set to come at home next week against the Royals.

Suarez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Suarez will move to the bench Saturday after going 1-for-4 with three strikeouts during Friday's loss. His absence will put Nathaniel Lowe at the DH spot and Spencer Steer at first base, allowing Noelvi Marte to pick up a start in right field.

Stephenson isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

After going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Friday night, Stephenson will get a break during Saturday's day game. Jose Trevino will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Mikolas (2-6) took the loss Friday as the Nationals were downed 5-2 by the Rays, giving up five runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings of relief. He struck out two.

A three-run homer by Jonathan Aranda in the third inning and a solo shot by Jonny DeLuca in the eighth bookended Mikolas' night as the bulk reliever and accounted for most of the damage off the right-hander. It's the second time in four June outings that he's been tagged for five or more runs, but Mikolas blanked the opposition over 11.2 innings in his other two appearances this month. The volatile veteran will take a 5.47 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 43:17 K:BB and 1.95 HR/9 through 74 innings into his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next week against the Phillies.
