Hughes (0-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing a run on five hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out five.

Hughes held the Nats scoreless through four innings Wednesday, though a James Wood sacrifice fly in the fifth proved enough to stick the right-hander with the loss in an eventual 8-0 defeat. Since getting called up by the Rockies early this month, the 24-year-old Hughes has given up just six runs on 16 hits and six walks while striking out 19 across 19.1 innings. Hughes, who was drafted 10th overall in 2022, certainly appears to have done enough to garner an extended look in Colorado's rotation. He's tentatively lined up to face the Padres on the road in his next outing.

Jump (3-6) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and four walks with five strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Jump opened with three scoreless innings but unraveled from there, departing at 83 pitches after surrendering three homers and being charged with six earned runs over the fourth and fifth frames. It continued a rough stretch for the rookie, who's lost five straight outings while yielding five earned runs or more three times during that stretch. He owns a 4.42 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 61:21 K:BB across 57 innings this season and lines up to face the Red Sox at home next week.

Cavalli (7-4) earned the win Wednesday over the Rockies, allowing four hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

Cavalli was excellent Wednesday as he logged his fifth quality start in his last six outings -- he's gone 3-0 with a 2.67 ERA and a stellar 47:6 K:BB across 33.1 innings in that span. With his recent success, Cavalli has lowered his ERA to 3.58 on the season with a 1.29 WHIP and 127:34 K:BB across 22 starts (110.2 innings). Cavalli will look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come at home next week against the Blue Jays.

Ortiz went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Mets.

Ortiz filled the stat sheet Wednesday while ultimately coming a homer shy of a cycle. He put the Brewers ahead in the second inning with a two-run, two-out triple, his first three-bagger this season. Ortiz has been hot since the All-Star break, going 7-for-17 with two homers, four extra-base hits, six RBI and three steals in six games. He's now slashing .239/.310/.352 with five homers, eight steals, 29 runs scored and 28 RBI across 262 plate appearances this season.

Caissie (calf) has been cleared to hit and has increased his defensive and plyometric work, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Caissie has also been running "up to 85 percent" intensity and continues to progress in his recovery from a mild right calf strain that landed him on the injured list July 9. The initial recovery timeline was 2-to-4 weeks, so the 24-year-old outfielder could be back with the Marlins by late July or early August, depending on when/if he goes on a rehab assignment.

Detmers (3-7) took the loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Detmers was locked in a pitcher's duel with Hunter Dobbins before surrendering a solo homer to JJ Wetherholt in the sixth inning, which proved to be the game's only run. The southpaw scuffled a bit entering the All-Star break but has opened the second half with two strong outings, allowing just one earned run with 13 strikeouts over 11.1 innings. He'll take a 4.05 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 136:37 K:BB across 120 innings this season into a home matchup with the Astros next week.

Scott (3-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out six.

All of the damage against Scott came with two outs in the second inning, when Joey Ortiz drove in two runs with a triple before Christian Yelich drove in Ortiz with a base hit. Scott had turned in back-to-back scoreless outings coming into Wednesday, allowing just six hits and one walk while striking out 12 across 10.2 innings. His ERA now sits at 3.13 through 14 starts (63.1 innings) this season with a 1.26 WHIP and 78:29 K:BB. Scott's currently in line to face Atlanta at home his next time out.

Dobbins (2-1) earned the win against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Dobbins made a spot start and silenced the Angels over six frames, throwing 58 of 86 pitches for strikes with 12 whiffs. It marked the first quality start of the campaign for the 26-year-old, who owns a 3.18 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB across 28.1 major-league innings. After being called up prior to Wednesday's game, it's unclear whether he will remain with the Cardinals or return to Triple-A Memphis.

Megill earned the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Mets, allowing a run on a hit and a walk in the ninth inning.

The Mets made things interesting with a two-out run off Megill in the ninth, but the right-hander managed to close out a one-run victory, logging his 16th save this season. The run is the first given up by Megill since June 5 -- he delivered 16 straight scoreless innings coming into the day, allowing just seven hits and three walks while striking out 19 in that span. Overall, Megill's ERA sits at 3.00 across 39 innings this year with a 0.97 WHIP and 48:11 K:BB.

Henderson (4-1) earned the win Wednesday over the Mets, allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out nine.

There was some concern for Henderson after he dealt with forearm cramping in his last outing against Miami, though the right-hander certainly seemed fine Wednesday as he logged a season-high nine strikeouts in a winning effort. In three starts since returning from the IL, Henderson has given up six runs over 15.1 innings on just six hits and one walk while striking out 17. He'll carry a 3.05 ERA and 0.94 WHIP into his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come next week in San Francisco.
