Godbout (hand) has gone 0-for-9 with three strikeouts over his first two games at Double-A Portland since being assigned to the affiliate Tuesday after being reinstated from High-A Greenville's 60-day injured list.

Godbout slashed .277/.410/.492 with seven home runs and two stolen bases over 34 games with Greenville before hitting the shelf June 2 after fracturing his left hand and requiring surgery. The 23-year-old shortstop kicked off a rehab assignment at Single-A Salem on July 31, and after playing in five games in the Carolina League, the Red Sox decided that he was ready to make his Double-A debut.

Sanmartin struck out two across one scoreless inning in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Astros.

Sanmartin entered in the ninth inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced while throwing nine of his 15 pitches for strikes. He's logged three scoreless outings in seven appearances this season, posting a 9.45 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB across 6.2 innings.

Rutschman is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.

Rutschman started the previous two days upon being added to Boston's active roster, but he will get a break during Thursday's matinee. Connor Wong will do the catching and bat ninth as the Red Sox try to avoid being swept.

Pasquantino (wrist) went 1-for-5 at the plate Wednesday in his first rehab game with Triple-A Omaha.

After Omaha's game was rained out Tuedsday, Pasquantino began his rehab assignment a day later and played the full game at first base as he works his way back from right wrist soreness. Per MLB.com, the Royals hope to have the 28-year-old play in five games this week, which would put him on track to return from the 10-day injured list as soon as Monday. Pasquantino is slashing .232/.318/.345 with six home runs, four stolen bases, 33 RBI and 34 runs across 336 plate appearances this season.

Marchan (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Marchan has been out for the past three weeks with left knee patellar tendinitis. He shouldn't require more than a game or two on his rehab assignment before returning to the Phillies' active roster.

Bateman is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

Bateman had made seven straight starts, but the left-handed hitter will take a seat as the Red Sox send southpaw Payton Tolle to the bump. Myles Straw will patrol center field for the Blue Jays.

Kirk is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Red Sox.

Kirk started at catcher each of the last two days, so he'll get a breather during Thursday's afternoon tilt. Brandon Valenzuela is behind the dish and batting seventh for the Blue Jays.

Black struck out a batter and allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks across three innings of relief in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Dodgers.

For the second time since he was recalled from Triple-A Omaha last Friday, Black pitched in long relief behind starter Daniel Lynch, who is getting gradually stretched out as he transitions from the bullpen to the rotation. After tossing five innings Friday against the Cubs, Black wasn't needed to provide as much length Wednesday, with Lynch building up to 2.1 innings and 39 pitches. Unless he's incredibly economical with his pitch count in his next projected start Tuesday versus the Athletics, Lynch is unlikely to reach five innings, so Black could have decent odds of picking up a win in that game if he's available to pitch behind Lynch.

Wells is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Wells had started each of the previous nine contests, so he's earned a day off for Thursday's matinee. Ali Sanchez will fill in for Wells behind the dish.

The Pirates optioned Sisk to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.

Sisk was scored upon in three of four appearances since coming off the injured list last week. Isaac Mattson was called up from Triple-A to take over Sisk's spot on the active roster and in the bullpen.
