Liranzo (finger) has gone 5-for-36 (.139 average) with three home runs and a 7:16 BB:K in 10 games at Double-A Erie since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list July 28.

Liranzo was on the shelf for nearly four weeks in July after suffering a left finger laceration. He's struggled a bit at the dish since being activated but is still producing at just above the league-average level (.763 OPS, 103 wRC+) over 244 plate appearances at Double-A on the season.

Gray (14-3) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts over six innings.

Gray opened with four scoreless frames before allowing a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, losing to the Blue Jays for the second time in his past four outings. The veteran hurler still managed to log his 15th quality start of the season, a feat he's accomplished in each of his past two turns after stumbling at the end of July. He'll take a 2.79 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 110:33 K across 125.2 innings this season into a road matchup with the Pirates this weekend.

Varland earned the save in Monday's 2-1 win over the Red Sox, allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

Varland was called on to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning and worked around a leadoff double to close the door. The 28-year-old has posted just one clean outing in five August appearances, but he's still managed a save and two wins during that stretch. On the season, he's 25-for-26 in save opportunities while boasting a 1.31 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 76:17 K:BB across 61.2 innings.

The Blue Jays released Jimenez on Tuesday.

Jimenez posted a .633 OPS over 12 games while he was up in the majors with Toronto in April, but he was moved off the 40-man roster shortly after his time in the big leagues ended and had been toiling at Triple-A Buffalo ever since. The Blue Jays opted to move on from Jimenez after he slashed .286/.353/.361 with just one home run over 33 games at Buffalo.

The Blue Jays released Alcala on Tuesday.

Alcala had seen big-league action in each of the previous seven seasons but failed to receive a look in the majors with the Blue Jays in 2026 after inking a minor-league contract with the franchise in December. He spent a large portion of the campaign on the injured list, making just 10 appearances at Triple-A Buffalo while pitching to a 6.75 ERA and 2.00 WHIP over 12 innings.

DeMartini (wrist) has gone 3-for-13 with a solo home run, three walks, four stolen bases and three runs in four games for Double-A Reading since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Aug. 4.

Before returning to action for Reading last week, DeMartini had been out of commission for nearly three months due to a left wrist sprain. The 23-year-old infielder has posted a .798 OPS with five home runs and 10 steals over 28 games at the Double-A level in 2026.

Woodford agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rays on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Woodford was cast off the Cubs' 40-man roster Tuesday and elected free agency a few days later. It didn't take long for the right-hander to find work, as he'll be brought in by the Rays on a minor-league deal to serve as pitching depth. Woodford owns a 7.18 ERA and 1.78 WHIP with 23 strikeouts across 26.1 innings in the big leagues this season between stops in Milwaukee and Chicago.

The Rockies released Castillo on Saturday.

Castillo had spent most of the season on Triple-A Albuquerque's injured list while he recovered from a right lat injury suffered in spring training, but he was able to make it back from the shelf July 31 after a completing a month-long rehab assignment that included stops at two lower-level affiliates. He made just one appearance for Albuquerque, giving up four earned runs on three hits and three walks over 1.2 innings before the Rockies cut ties with him a week later.

The Diamondbacks have informed Littell that he'll work out of the bullpen, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Littell signed a one-year contract with Arizona on Sunday, and the team intends to use him in a relief role to begin his D-Backs tenure. He's appeared as a reliever in nine of 23 appearances this season with Washington, and he stated in an interview Monday that he's willing to do whatever he can to help his new club. Littell most recently worked 6.2 innings Tuesday in his final appearance before being designated for assignment by the Nationals, so he's in a position to step into a starting role in the event of an injury.

Pasquantino (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Pasquantino, who landed on the 10-day injured list July 29 due to wrist soreness, should only need a handful of at-bats at Triple-A before being activated from the shelf. If all goes according to plan, it seems likely that he'll be back with the big-league club before the end of the week.
