Meyer (neck) will be re-evaluated next week, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Meyer has been shut down from throwing since he landed on the injured list July 20 with a neck strain, but he may be cleared to resume activity if he shows enough progress during his upcoming evaluation. Once cleared to throw, he'll likely spend a couple of weeks ramping up and could require a rehab outing in the minors before returning to the Marlins' rotation.

Rangers manager Skip Schumacher told reporters Friday that Quantrill will move out of the rotation and into the bullpen, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The Rangers will go with a five-man rotation, which means both Quantrill and Jordan Montgomery will shift over to the bullpen. Quantrill had been a part of Texas' rotation since late June, and across seven starts he posted a 1-4 record with a 3.51 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB over 33.1 innings. It wouldn't be surprising to see Quantrill operate as a long reliever out of the bullpen over the remainder of the season unless a spot opens up in the rotation over the last few weeks of the regular season.

Nardi (ribs) is scheduled to visit a doctor Tuesday after experiencing elbow discomfort, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Nardi has been on the shelf since May due to a stress reaction in his ribcage. He was originally supposed to begin a rehab assignment within the next couple of weeks, but he suffered a setback during his throwing program and is now likely to spend even more time on the IL. An updated timeline for his return may come into view after his doctor's visit next week.

Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Friday that both Montgomery and Cal Quantrill will both move to the bullpen, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Montgomery was activated from the 60-day injured list Friday after fully recovering from March 2025 UCL surgery. He'll work out of the bullpen in his return, and his first time on the mound with the Rangers will mark his first major-league appearance since September of 2024. During that 2024 regular season with the Diamondbacks, Montgomery posted an 8-7 record across 25 games (21 starts) with a 6.23 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 83:44 K:BB over 117 frames.

The Astros recalled Meyers from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The move comes after Zach Dezenzo was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday. Meyers has been in the minors since early July, slashing .243/.325/.351 with one steal, two home runs and eight RBI over 83 plate appearances. His addition gives the Astros some depth in the outfield, and he could be in the lineup against southpaws while forming a platoon in center field with the lefty-hitting Daulton Varsho.

The Diamondbacks recalled Strowd from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Strowd will rejoin the major-league roster for the first time in two months to give the Diamondbacks some extra bullpen depth following the demotion of Kohl Drake. Strowd has given up 15 runs in 15.2 innings at Triple-A since he last appeared in an MLB game, so he'll almost certainly be limited to low-leverage opportunities while with Arizona.

The Diamondbacks optioned Drake to Triple-A Reno on Friday.

After giving up three runs in just 3.2 innings during Thursday's loss, bringing his ERA up to 5.40 through 16.2 innings, Drake will now lose his place in Arizona's rotation. Kade Strowd will come up from Reno in a corresponding move to add to the D-backs' bullpen depth while the team sorts out its rotation plans.

Snelling (elbow) is expected to begin a throwing program in September, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Snelling is out for the season after undergoing internal brace surgery in May to repair a UCL tear in his left elbow. The fact that Miami has already planned the beginning of his throwing program is a good sign that his recovery is going well, but the left-hander may still have to miss the first few months of the 2027 campaign before returning to the rotation.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said Friday that "it's possible" that Rutschman (wrist) embarks on a rehab assignment this weekend, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Rutschman was on the 10-day injured list while recovering from left wrist inflammation when the Red Sox acquired him from the Orioles right before Monday's trade deadline. He has progressed to hitting in a cage and is getting closer to making his debut with his new team. In the meantime, Connor Wong will continue to serve as the Red Sox's primary catcher while Rutschman is sidelined, with Jake Rogers providing depth at the position.

Mazur (elbow) is expected to begin a throwing program sometime in September, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Mazur is already set to miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace in March, but starting a throwing program in September keeps the door open for him to return at the start of the 2027 campaign.
