Basallo (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Southpaw Payton Tolle is on the mound for Boston, so the left-handed-hitting Basallo's absence from the lineup doesn't come as a major surprise, especially after the young backstop exited Sunday's 5-2 win over the Astros in the second inning due to right shoulder discomfort. Adley Rutschman (wrist) is also receiving a second straight game off, so the Orioles will go with third-string catcher Sam Huff behind the dish Monday.

Piasentin has not played for the Florida Gulf Coast League Blue Jays since June 8 due to knee soreness, Geoff Pontes of Baseball America reports.

Pontes reports that Piasentin, who has not been officially placed on the injured list, could be back soon. The 6-foot-3 third baseman is hitting .188 with a .349 OBP, one home run and a 26.7 percent strikeout rate in 21 games as a 19-year-old in complex ball.

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox due to a left wrist injury, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Rutschman was excluded from the lineup for Sunday's series finale versus the Astros in what initially appeared to be a routine maintenance day, but Orioles manager Craig Albernaz disclosed following the 5-2 win that the veteran backstop was dealing with wrist discomfort, per Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun. Samuel Basallo (shoulder) will also get the night off after exiting Sunday's game early, so the Orioles will hand Sam Huff a start behind the plate for the series opener in Boston. The Orioles appear to be viewing Rutschman as day-to-day.

Santana (hamstring) began a rehab assignment Friday with the Florida Complex League Rays, Ian Cundall of Baseball America reports.

High-A Bowling Green placed Santana on the 7-day injured list June 6 with a hamstring strain. Known for his slick defense at shortstop, the switch-hitting Santana slashed .309/.379/.393 with a career-high three home runs and career-best 10.3 percent strikeout rate while notching 21 steals in 47 games prior to the injury.

Tucker is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Tucker will head to the bench for the first time in the second half after he went 2-for-13 with two strikeouts in the Dodgers' three-game series against the Yankees over the weekend. Alex Call will draw the start in right field in place of Tucker, who has thus far maintained good health during his first season in Los Angeles but has produced a disappointing .702 OPS, by far the lowest mark of his career since his abbreviated 28-game rookie campaign with the Astros in 2018.

Pierce had left shoulder surgery recently and is likely done for the season, Ian Cundall of Baseball America reports.

Pierce was a league average hitter (100 wRC+) in 34 games for Single-A Charleston prior to the serious shoulder injury. He slashed .252/.336/.390 with four home runs, six steals and a 28.6 percent strikeout rate in 34 games and is expected to have a normal offseason.

Gonzalez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Gonzalez had been included in the lineup in four of the Red Sox's last five games, but three of those starts came against left-handed pitching. The 29-year-old looks like he'll have to settle for more of a part-time role versus righties, especially while Masataka Yoshida (1.117 OPS in July) is swinging a hot bat.

Gray, who had surgery to remove a bone chip in his right elbow, has gone 1-for-8 through three rehab games in the Florida Complex League.

Per Ian Cundall of Baseball America, Gray should be back in action for Single-A Charleston before the end of the month. Prior to the midseason surgery, Gray slashed .286/.406/.474 with six home runs, four steals, a 21.9 percent strikeout rate and a 16.1 percent walk rate in 49 games. He received just under $1 million when the Rays selected him in the third round in 2025 and won't turn 19 until mid-August.

Witt (back) will start at shortstop and bat second in Monday's game against the Giants.

The All-Star shortstop was held out of the starting nine for Sunday's 19-2 loss to the Padres due to general back tightness, though manager Matt Quatraro emphasized that Witt was merely kept on the bench as a precaution. Witt's back has apparently responded well to the day of rest, and he should be available for the entirety of the Royals' seven-game week, barring an aggravation of the injury.

The Mets optioned Wagaman to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Wagaman has managed just a .162/.262/.324 batting line in 21 games for the Mets this season. He's clearing off the active roster in order to make space for the return of Luis Robert (back) from the injured list.
