  • Colton Cowser CF | BAL

Orioles' Colton Cowser: Playing time trending down

Cowser is out of the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Giants.

It's the second straight game and the third time over the last five tilts that the left-handed-hitting Cowser has been out of the lineup, and they've all been against right-handed pitching. Cowser is hitless over his last four games and is slashing just .182/.269/.227 on the season. The Orioles will go with Dylan Beavers again in center field.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Mets' Jorge Polanco: Remains out of lineup Friday

Polanco (Achilles) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Polanco went 0-for-4 at the plate Wednesday against Arizona and was out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Thursday that Polanco could require a stint on the injured list, though Polanco said Friday that his Achilles is feeling better, and he doesn't believe a trip to the IL will be necessary, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. With Polanco idle Friday, Bo Bichette is at designated hitter, and Ronny Mauricio is batting seventh and playing third base.

  • Wenceel Perez RF | DET

Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Back in big leagues

The Tigers recalled Perez from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Perez failed to make the Opening Day roster out of spring training, but he's now needed as a replacement for the injured Parker Meadows (arm/concussion). The 26-year-old Perez had a .738 OPS with 13 home runs and eight stolen bases in 100 regular-season games for the Tigers last year and had collected an .807 OPS with two homers and three steals in his first 10 contests at Toledo in 2026. He should see plenty of action in the Detroit outfield while Meadows is shelved.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Back in lineup Friday

Realmuto (foot) is back in the starting lineup at catcher and batting eighth against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Realmuto was struck in the foot by a foul tip Tuesday and sat out Wednesday's series finale against the Giants. The off day Thursday provided an extra day of rest for the veteran backstop. Realmuto is slashing .240/.406/.400 with one home run, one RBI, four runs scored and a 5:6 BB:K across 32 plate appearances.

  • Parker Meadows CF | DET

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Out with concussion, broken arm

The Tigers placed Meadows on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left radius fracture and a concussion.

It had been reported previously that Meadows suffered a concussion as a result of his collision in the outfield with Riley Greene on Thursday in Minnesota, and Meadows has now been diagnosed with a fractured arm, as well. It will be a lengthy absence for Meadows, though the Tigers haven't offered up a specific timetable. Wenceel Perez has been recalled to take Meadows' roster spot and should see starts in center field, along with Matt Vierling and perhaps Javier Baez.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Grabbing seat Friday

Lewis is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Toronto.

Lewis will get a day to rest after starting all four games during the Twins' sweep of the Tigers earlier in the week. Tristan Gray is getting a start at third base in Lewis' stead.

  • Royals' Jonathan India: Getting breather Friday

India is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the White Sox.

India had made six consecutive starts but will get a breather in Friday's series opener. The Royals are going with Michael Massey at second base and in the No. 6 spot in the lineup.

  • Aaron Ashby RP | MIL

Brewers' Aaron Ashby: Serving as opener Friday

Ashby will serve as the opener ahead of Chad Patrick on Friday against the Nationals, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

The Nationals typically have four lefties in the top five of their lineup against right-handed pitching, so opening with a lefty before turning the ball over to Patrick makes sense. Ashby already leads the majors with seven appearances this season and has a 3-0 record, 2.79 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across 9.2 innings.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Reds' Jose Trevino: Receives injection in back

Trevino received a cortisone injection in his back and could start ramping up his rehab Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Trevino remains on the 10-day injured list and isn't eligible to be activated until Wednesday, although a return that quickly could be optimistic. The veteran catcher hit .091/.167/.091 with a 1:3 BB:K across 12 plate appearances before going down with the injury.

  • Cubs' Jaxon Wiggins: Dealing with sore arm

Wiggins is dealing with a sore arm at Triple-A Iowa, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

The 24-year-old has made a pair of starts but has only thrown eight innings, posting a 5.63 ERA and 10:5 K:BB. Wiggins could be a candidate to make his major-league debut at some point this season, assuming the arm issue isn't serious.
