The Padres optioned Brito to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Brito made just one appearance with the big-league club after being called up on Wednesday. The 28-year-old delivered a scoreless inning out of the bullpen in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Royals, allowing one hit while striking out a batter. In a corresponding move, San Diego reinstated Wandy Peralta (personal) from the bereavement list.

The Padres placed Peralta on the bereavement list Wednesday, but he missed just two games before rejoining the club. Through 41 appearances out of the bullpen this season, the southpaw has posted a 2.23 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 31:19 K:BB in 48.1 innings.

The Padres designated Marinaccio for assignment Sunday.

The 30-year-old will lose his spot on the 40-man roster after submitting a 4.79 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 38:18 K:BB across 47 innings in 33 relief appearances for San Diego. He'll give up his spot on the active roster to right-hander Randy Vasquez (ankle), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list.

Vasquez is back with San Diego after spending just over the minimum time on the shelf due to a bruised right ankle. The right-hander had started in 16 of his 17 appearances prior to landing the shelf while submitting a 4.71 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 60:27 K:BB across 84 innings, but he's expected to work out of the bullpen initially following his reinstatement, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. German Marquez will start Sunday's series finale in Kansas City, and San Diego has already named JP Sears, Walker Buehler, Michael King and Griffin Canning as its probable starters for its upcoming four-game series in Atlanta.

Caballero is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

The 29-year-old went 0-for-4 during the first game of the second half Friday but will hit the bench for Sunday's matinee. Anthony Volpe is picking up a start at shortstop in place of Caballero, who seems likely to rejoin the lineup for the nightcap, either at shortstop or another position.

The Astros recalled Delgado from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Delgado will make his way back up to the big-league club after a two-week stint in Triple-A. The 26-year-old is expected to serve as a utility infielder for Houston after producing a .267/.313/.400 batting line with one home and four RBI in his first 33 big-league plate appearances.

Manager Dave Roberts said that "it's going to be some time" before Ohtani retakes the mound for the Dodgers, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

The two-way superstar was initially expected to make his first start on the mound after the All-Star break Wednesday in Philadelphia, but that plan was scrapped after he felt discomfort in his left knee while playing catch this weekend. Ohtani will continue to serve as Los Angeles' primary designated hitter, however, since the injury presents more problems while pitching due to the "torque of landing on that leg," per Roberts. Ohtani seems unlikely to pitch for at least the next couple weeks but is without an official timeline for his return to the bump.

The Astros will activate Blanco (elbow) from the 60-day injured list to start Monday's series opener against the Marlins in Houston, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Blanco will be making his 2026 debut for the Astros after completing his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last June. The 32-year-old began a rehab assignment in mid-June and was able to build up to 4.1 innings and 68 pitches in his final outing at Triple-A Sugar Land last weekend. Overall, Blanco turned in a 1.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB in 17 innings over five starts with three different affiliates.

Manager Matt Quatraro said that Witt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres due to back tightness, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old went 0-for-4 with a strikeout while playing through the injury Saturday, and the Royals will be cautious with their All-Star shortstop. Witt should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against San Francisco.

Pena (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Pena was pulled from Saturday's contest due to right hamstring cramps and will miss at least one start due to the injury. The veteran shortstop is still participating in baseball activities, per Rome, which could indicate that Pena will quickly rejoin the starting nine. Nick Allen is starting in his place and batting ninth Sunday.
