The Tigers reinstated Valdez from the bereavement list Saturday.
Valdez isn't lined up to take the mound until Detroit's next series against the Cubs, but he'll return to the team a few days ahead of time after moving to the bereavement list before the All-Star break. Beau Brieske was sent down to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Guardians' Codi Heuer: Back in minors
The Guardians optioned Heuer to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
Heuer pitched 1.2 shutout innings during Game 1 of Saturday's twin bill, but he'll now be sent down to the minors so the Guardians can add a fresh arm to their bullpen in the form of Will Dion. Heuer now owns a 4.66 ERA through 9.2 frames with Cleveland this season and could return to the big club later this year as bullpen depth.

Guardians' Will Dion: Recalled from Columbus
The Guardians recalled Dion from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
Dion will come up from the minors to give the Guardians an additional fresh arm for their doubleheader against Pittsburgh. The 26-year-old has given up seven earned runs in just 11.1 MLB innings this season, so he'll likely be limited to low-leverage situations. Codi Heuer was sent down to Columbus in a corresponding move.

McCarthy went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a steal during the Rockies' 10-3 win over the Reds on Saturday.
McCarthy extended his hitting streak to five games Saturday, and his on-base streak now sits at 13. He also collected his 17th steal of the season, which leads the Rockies and is tied for 12th most in the National League. McCarthy is slashing .303/.349/.516 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI across 316 plate appearances this season.
