Rogers will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Rogers will enter the starting nine for the series finale while the Tigers give top backstop Dillon Dingler a break from catching but keep his bat in the lineup at designated hitter. With Dingler handling one of the heavier workloads among all catchers this season, Rogers has been limited to just 68 plate appearances through Detroit's first 73 games.

The Astros will skip Burrows' next turn in the rotation, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Burrows has been tagged for 16 runs (13 earned) while serving up five home runs over 15 innings covering his last three starts. He's posted a 5.86 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 14 outings this season. Burrows will be available out of the bullpen this weekend, and the righty indicated he plans to piggyback behind Tatsuya Imai on Friday night against the Guardians. While Burrows could rejoin the rotation next week, his role is tenuous due to Cristian Javier (shoulder) being due back soon.

Mead went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

The 25-year-old infielder produced the game's deciding runs when he took Daniel Lynch deep in the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie. Mead still isn't stringing together hits consistently, but over his last 20 games he's slashing .239/.325/.521 with six of his 11 long balls on the season, along with 12 runs and 17 RBI while emerging as the Nationals' starting third baseman.

Mahle (hamstring) allowed one earned run on one hit and five walks while striking out three over three innings in Triple-A Sacramento's 10-1 win over Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Mahle hasn't played in the big leagues since May 26 after landing on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, but he's progressing toward a return to San Francisco. The veteran right-hander struggled with his command Tuesday, issuing five walks while throwing 33 of his 63 pitches for strikes, though he limited the damage to just one run. Before going on the IL, the 31-year-old posted a 6.04 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB across 56.2 innings in 11 starts.

Sosa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Sosa will hit the bench after he made starts in each of the last four games -- two in left field, one at third base and one at shortstop -- while going 6-for-12 with a solo home run and three additional runs. Though the Phillies are still likely to open up steady playing time for Sosa versus left-handed pitching, his path to playing regularly against righties appears to have closed with shortstop Trea Turner (wrist) returning to the lineup Wednesday following a one-game absence.

Ruiz went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies.

The 27-year-old got the start in left field and ruined Jesus Luzardo's shutout bid by taking the southpaw deep in the seventh inning. Ruiz continues to do damage in that split, and over 40 plate appearances against left-handers this season he's batting .273 with three of his four homers on the year, along with seven steals, six RBI and nine runs.

Stubbs will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

With top backstop J.T. Realmuto resting for the series finale, Stubbs will enter the lineup for just the eighth time since being called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on April 22. Stubbs has gone 4-for-20 (.200 average) with three runs and one RBI over his limited playing time with Philadelphia.

Diaz is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Tigers.

Diaz started Tuesday's contest in his return from the injured list, but he will take a seat during Wednesday's matinee. It will be Christian Vazquez doing the catching in Thursday's rubber match.

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the dish as a replacement for Realmuto, who went 1-for-8 with a home run and two RBI while starting in the first two games of the series against his former team. One of multiple veteran Phillies players who have underperformed this season, Realmuto owns a career-low .607 OPS over 185 plate appearances.

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's win over the Red Sox.

The shortstop went back-to-back with Davis Schneider in the fifth inning off Payton Tolle, propelling the Blue Jays to a 3-0 lead. Gimenez was held out of the starting nine Sunday against the Yankees due to a sore wrist, but Tuesday's performance suggests he's fully healthy. The long ball was his first since May 28, but through 13 games in June, Gimenez is slashing a respectable .282/.333/.436 with three doubles, a steal, three RBI and four runs.
