Anderson sustained a foot injury in Saturday's 27-0 loss to the Jets, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Anderson will undergo additional evaluations of his foot this week and more information on his status will likely be provided in the coming days. The defensive end is expected to start for the Panthers in 2023 after re-signing with the squad in March.

Anderson (illness) will be inactive Sunday against the Buccaneers, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Anderson's absence will open up extra opportunity for Amare Barno in the team's defensive line rotation. The former will work to get healthy and play against the Falcons in Week 8.

The Patriots released Anderson (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Thursday. Anderson was slated to the miss the entire 2022 campaign after being placed on season-ending IR, but he'll now be free to join a new team once he clears his current injury. The 31-year-old appeared in only four games last season -- his first with New England -- before a suffering a torn pectoral, but before 2021, he'd been an integral part of every defense he'd played for since 2015 -- three years with the Colts and three years with the Jets.

Anderson returned at the opening of training camp from a season-ending pectoral injury suffered last October, though it's unclear if this same issue led to his most recent placement on New England's IR. The 31-year-old will now likely be forced to miss the entirety of the 2022 campaign as well, unless he can reach an injury settlement with the team.

Anderson was seen practicing again for the first time Thursday after being placed on season-ending injured reserve last October, Andrew Callahan of The Boston Herald reports. Anderson missed the final 13 games of the regular season with a pectoral injury after joining New England on a two-year, $7 million contract last offseason. The 30-year-old defensive end primarily worked with the second-string defense Thursday, but he also filled in along the starting defensive line with Deatrich Wise absent for unknown reasons.
