  • McLeod is expected to start Monday's Week 13 game against Denver with Juan Thornhill inactive due to a calf injury, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Thornhill was ruled out Saturday and is officially inactive Monday, likely leaving starting duties to McLeod. The latter has made two other starts this season, logging a season-high eight tackles in both Week 5 and Week 6. When he's not starting, McLeod typically plays around half of Cleveland's defensive snaps in a rotational role.

  • Browns' Rodney McLeod: Avoids injury report
    By RotoWire

McLeod (head) was left off Wednesday's injury report, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. McLeod suffered a face laceration in the Browns' Week 5 loss to the Commanders, but it appears he's already past the issue. Expect the Virginia product to continue serving as one of Cleveland's top reserve safeties now that he's recovered from his face laceration.

  • McLeod recorded two tackles and scored on a fumble return in a 20-16 loss to the Raiders in Week 4. McLeod scooped up a Zamir White fumble and brought it back 25 yards to bring the Browns within one score early in the fourth quarter. The 34-year-old safety is a depth piece in Cleveland's secondary and a regular on special teams, though he's seen action on 40 percent or more of the defensive snaps in each of the last three games.

  • McLeod (biceps) said Tuesday he plans to retire after the 2024 season, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. McLeod is presumably healthy after a biceps injury limited him to 10 appearances (five starts) in 2023. He signed a one-year deal back in March to return to Cleveland for a second season. The soon-to-be 34-year-old will likely serve as a depth option in the secondary while also handling a role on special teams.

  • McLeod started at strong safety and had five total tackles, two passes defensed and an interception in Sunday's win over Kansas City. McLeod played on all 59 of the defense's snaps as he got increased playing time with rookie Nick Cross moving back to the bench (just one snap on defense). It looks like McLeod has a starting role and should continue to get plenty of snaps with Julian Blackmon possibly missing time with a sprained ankle.
