  • Williams (shoulder) was left off the Jets' injury report Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Williams had been dealing with a shoulder since mid-August, but he was not listed on the Jets' first injury report of the week Thursday and will be good to go for Monday's game against the 49ers. The 2019 first-round pick will anchor the Jets' defensive line alongside Javon Kinlaw, Jermaine Johnson and Micheal Clemons.

  • Williams had six tackles (two solo), including a sack, in Sunday's 32-6 loss to Buffalo. The sack was one of Williams' two tackles for loss Sunday. Williams has been a disruptive force on the interior with seven tackles for loss despite seeing frequent double teams, but he has just two sacks through 10 games after racking up a career-high 12 sacks last season.

  • The Jets signed Williams to a four-year, $96 million extension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The deal includes $66 million guaranteed. The $24 million per year in new money makes Williams the NFL's second-highest-paid interior defensive lineman, trailing only Aaron Donald. Williams is coming off a career-best 12 sacks last season and has 27.5 total since being drafted No. 3 overall in 2019. Williams was a first-team All-Pro last year and finished seventh in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He doesn't turn 26 years old until December and should remain a foundational piece for coach Robert Saleh's defense.

  • Williams is skipping the voluntary part of the offseason program as he continues to negotiate a new contract, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports. Williams produced a career-high 12 sacks in 2022, recording 55 total tackles while deflecting four passes, forcing two fumbles and recovering a fumble over 16 contests. As a result of his massive campaign, Williams wants a contract extension ahead of 2023 and has said he will hold out of the voluntary workouts while negotiating.

  • Williams finished the 2022 season with 12.0 sacks, 55 tackles (35 solo), four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 16 games. Williams' career high sack total is even more impressive when you consider that he accrued it while rushing from the interior. The Jets picked up his fifth-year option for 2023, but Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports that Williams is hoping to get a long-term deal done by April. Williams can't quite demand Aaron Donald money ($31.7 million per year), but he's the league's premier source of interior pressure after Donald and is seeking to become the second-highest paid defensive tackle at more than $21 million per year.
