  Maye noted Thursday that things have been going well with him and A.J. Brown since the wideout's arriving in a June trade, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. "It has been awesome," Maye said on that topic. "I'm really looking forward to playing with him. I'm looking forward to getting to camp and building some chemistry. And I know there's already some there for me. You just gotta throw it near him, and he'll make a play." The Patriots parted ways with last year's top receiver, Stefon Diggs, in March but added Romeo Doubs via free agency prior to dealing for Brown, giving Maye a pair of new weapons atop the team's WR depth chart. As Patra notes, Brown is coming off a down season by his standards (78/1,003/7), but a fresh start while working with a talented young QB like Maye could help spur a bounce-back season on his part. Maye is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he threw for 4,394 yards with 31 TDs and eight picks in 17 games and ran for 450 yards and four rushing scores en route to finishing as the runner-up for last year's NFL MVP award. On the heels of that strong effort, Maye heads into the coming campaign as a highly sought-after fantasy asset at his position, and the addition of Brown - who profiles as a true WR1 -- should only help his cause in 2026.

  Maye has a new No. 1 wide receiver after the Patriots traded for A.J. Brown from the Eagles on Monday, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports. The deal did not become official until June 1 due to Philadelphia's salary-cap considerations, but it now caps what has been an exceptionally productive offseason for Maye and New England's offense. A three-time All-Pro and true alpha target for Maye, Brown is an upgrade over departed 2025 team receiving leader Stefon Diggs. Brown joins a capable No. 2 option in Romeo Doubs, who inked a four-year deal in free agency, plus TE Hunter Henry and returning WRs Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas and Kyle Williams. Maye, who has fully recovered from the shoulder injury he played through in Super Bowl XL against the Rams, thus looks primed for another step forward after finishing as the MVP runner-up in 2025.   With regard to the right shoulder issue he managed ahead of Super Bowl LX, Maye noted Wednesday that he's doing "great," ESPN.com reports. Mike Reiss of ESPN previously reported that Maye said he received a pain-killing injection for his throwing shoulder before his team's loss to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, a game in which the QB completed 27 of 43 passing attempts for 295 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Since then, Maye indicates that he's had "no problems at all" on that front while confirming that he didn't require an offseason procedure. As the coming campaign approaches, the Patriots return a number of the key skill players that Maye worked with in 2025, with free-agent addition Romeo Doubs representing a notable addition to a wide receiver corps that no longer includes Stefon Diggs. Additionally, there's plenty of speculation that A.J. Brown could be headed to New England (via a trade with Philadelphia) on or after June 1, and if that ends up being the case, Maye's 2026 fantasy prospects would be boosted by the addition of a true WR1.

• Patriots' Drake Maye: Tough showing in Super Bowl

  Maye completed 27 of 43 passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 29-13 loss in the Super Bowl to the Seahawks. He added five rushes for 37 yards and also lost a fumble. It's unclear if a nagging shoulder injury impacted Maye's performance, but he was stymied by Seattle's defense for the vast majority of Super Bowl LX. He had 60 passing yards through three quarters, and his most meaningful contribution to the game came on consecutive passes early in the final quarter with the Patriots down three scores, when he found Mack Hollins for gains of 24 and 35 yards -- the latter of which went for a touchdown. Maye's performance was otherwise dominated by negative plays, as he was sacked six times for a loss of 43 yards, and he also turned the ball over three times -- two of which led directly to touchdowns for the Seahawks. Though it was a disappointing close to the season, Maye had a breakout sophomore campaign by posting a 31:8 TD:INT while averaging 8.9 yards per attempt across 17 regular-season games.

  Maye (right shoulder) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's Super Bowl LX against the Seahawks. During the first week of Super Bowl prep, Maye was listed as limited last Wednesday and Thursday due to a right shoulder injury that he suffered in the AFC Championship Game win at Denver. He then missed practice last Friday before the Patriots listed him as questionable. However, Maye put together three consecutive full sessions this week, clearing him for the final contest of his second campaign. Through three playoff victories so far, he completed 43 of 77 passes for 533 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions, rushed 24 times for 141 yards and one TD and fumbled six times (three lost).
