With all of Wright, LaPorta and Shane Zylstra (knee), the latter of whom was designated for return from IR this week but ruled out for Week 14 action, sidelined, Detroit's group of available tight ends Thursday against the Cowboys includes Ross Dwelley, Anthony Firkser and Hayden Rucci.

Detroit has listed Wright as a non-participant on its first two Week 14 practice reports, a development that comes as little surprise after head coach Dan Campbell said Sunday that the tight end was dealing with an injury to his trachea that could result in a long-term absence, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. For now, the Lions are evaluating Wright's status on a game-by-game basis, and at this point, he seems likely to miss Thursday's game against the Cowboys. Ross Dwelley, who caught one of three targets for three yards in Week 13, would likely step up as the Lions' top pass-catching option at tight end.

Wright missed last Thursday's loss to the Packers, and it sounds like he could miss an extended period of time due to a tracheal injury. With both Sam LaPorta (back) and Wright sidelined against Green Bay, Ross Dwelley played 75 percent of the snaps, while Anthony Firkser was in on 24 percent of the downs. Neither made an impact in the box score, combining for a 2-7-0 line on four targets.

With Sam LaPorta recently going down with a back injury and unlikely to play again this season after undergoing surgery, Wright has stepped in as the Lions' No. 1 tight end the past two weeks. He's played more than 80 percent of the snaps in each of those contests and has produced a 5-37-0 receiving line on 11 targets, but his health is now in question after he emerged from this past Sunday's win over the Giants with a neck issue. If Wright isn't able to play through the neck injury in Thursday's game against the Packers, Ross Dwelley would be the next man up at tight end, and at least one of Anthony Firkser and Zach Horton would be in line for a promotion from the practice squad.
