The Giants waived Owens (knee) on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Owens wasn't waived with an injury designation, indicating that his knee isn't causing him any issues. The 2023 seventh-round pick will look to catch on with a team in need of depth in the secondary.

Owens missed practice Sunday due to a knee injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. The severity of Owens' injury hasn't yet been made clear, but an absence of more than a few days could impact his chances of making the Giants' 53-man roster. Owens is competing for a depth role at safety after being selected in seventh round of the 2023 Draft and logging 36 special-teams snaps (and zero defensive snaps) over three regular-season contests last year.
