Herbig recorded six solo tackles, including 2.0 sacks, during the Steelers' 26-19 overtime win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. Herbig did not record a sack through the first five games of the regular season, but the fourth-year pro got to quarterback Jalon Daniels twice during Sunday's OT victory. Herbig is up to 18 tackles (13 solo) and one forced fumble through six regular-season games while working in a rotational role on defense.

Pittsburgh signed Herbig to a four-year, $100 million contract extension Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Herbig is coming off the best season of his young career -- he registered 7.5 sacks over 15 regular-season games in 2025 even as he played behind four-time All-Pro T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. Both Watt and Highsmith figure to return in 2026, limiting Herbig's opportunities, but he'll still technically be playing on his rookie deal until 2027.

Herbig (hamstring) has no injury designation heading into Sunday's contest against the Browns, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. Herbig upgraded to full participation in Friday's practice and will play Sunday versus the Browns after missing Week 16 with a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old will be crucial for the front-seven in Week 17 as star T.J. Watt (lung) is out for yet another game. Herbig has 29 tackles (20 solo), including 6.5 sacks, and two pass breakups, including one interception.

Herbig (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. Herbig was able to start his week of practice with a limited session, a strong sign for the linebacker's playing chances for Sunday's game against the Browns. Every front-seven player will be key for a Steelers defense that may be without T.J. Watt (lung) yet again. Herbig will have two more chances to upgrade his practice participation in the hopes of dodging an injury designation ahead of Sunday's divisional matchup.

Herbig suffered a hamstring injury in Monday night's 28-15 win over the Dolphins, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Herbig was thrust into a starting role in Week 15 with T.J. Watt (chest) unavailable, and he notched one tackle in the contest. He appears to have left the game a little worse for wear, and his status at practice will be worth monitoring ahead of the team's matchup with the Lions on the road Sunday.
