  • Nick Folk K | NYJ

Patriots' Nick Folk: Back with Patriots

Folk signed a two-year, $5 million contract to remain with the Patriots on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Folk put together a consistent 2021 season, converting 36 of his 39 field-goal attempts and 42 of his 47 extra-point attempts. That was enough for the Patriots to commit to him for a pair of additional campaigns. Folk played through a knee injury for much of last year, but he otherwise has shown no signs of slowing down despite the fact that he will be 38 years old for half of the 2022 campaign.

  • Greg Joseph K | LV

Vikings' Greg Joseph: Being tendered by Vikings

Minnesota will tender Joseph at the right of first refusal number of $2.4 million, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The Vikings will have the right to match any offer made to Joseph by another team. The 27-year-old is coming off a career year, having converted 33 of 38 field-goal attempts and 36 of 40 field-goal tries across 17 games last season. He was successful on seven of nine attempts from 50-plus yards out.

  • Chargers' Dustin Hopkins: Lands extension with Chargers

Hopkins signed a three-year, $9 million extension with the Chargers on Sunday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

Hopkins was let go by Washington midway through the 2021 season, but he latched on with the Chargers for the final 11 games of the year. During his time in Los Angeles, he converted 18 of 20 field-goal attempts and 30 of 32 extra-point tries. The 31-year-old will return to the team on a multi-year deal that includes $4.6 million of guaranteed money.

  • Greg Zuerlein: Cut by Cowboys

Zuerlein has been released by the Cowboys, Nick Eatman of the team's official site reports.

The Cowboys also announced Friday that tight end Blake Jarwin (hip) was waived/injured, with the moves freeing up cap space for the franchise leading up to free agency. Per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, Dallas now seems likely to replace Zuerlein -- who was approaching the final year of his contract -- with a more affordable option. In 16 games this past season, Zuerlein went 29-for-35 on field-goal attempts (82.9 percent) and 42-for-48 on extra-point tries (87.5 percent) en route to recording 129 points.

  • Panthers' Zane Gonzalez: Back for two more seasons

The Panthers re-signed Gonzalez (quadriceps) on Wednesday on a two-year, $4.5 million deal, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

By the time the Panthers take the field again, Gonzalez will be well past the quad issue that sidelined him late last season. Prior to missing Carolina's final four games of 2021, Gonzalez made 20 of his 22 field-goal attempts and hit 22 of his 23 extra-point tries in 12 games. While retaining the 26-year-old provides Carolina with some welcome stability at the kicker position, Gonzalez's fantasy prospects in 2022 hinge on the overall efforts of the franchise's offense, a unit that will likely undergo some retooling this offseason.

  • Wil Lutz K | DEN

Saints' Wil Lutz: Expected to be ready in 2022

Lutz (abdomen) is expected to be ready for the 2022 season, Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

The longtime New Orleans kicker missed the entire 2021 campaign after undergoing core-muscle surgery in August and then suffering a setback in his recovery. While it's not certain how close Lutz is to returning to the field, he again seems on track to serve as the Saints' placekicker in 2022, especially after Brett Maher was let go last week.

  • Brett Maher K | LAR

Brett Maher: Cut by New Orleans

Maher was waived by the Saints on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Maher appeared in eight games for New Orleans in 2021 and went 16-for-18 on field goals and 10-for-12 on PATs, but Wil Lutz (abdomen) is set to return after missing the entire campaign. Maher made only 67 percent of his field goals with the Cowboys in 2019, but he could receive some interest on the open market after performing well as an injury replacement for the Saints.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Makes all four kicks in Super Bowl

McPherson converted both field-goal attempts and both PATs during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Rams in Super Bowl LVI.

It was a strong finish to a successful playoff run for McPherson, as he went 14-for-14 on field goals and 6-for-6 on PATs in four contests, though he didn't receive an opportunity to tie the game in the fourth quarter Sunday. The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful rookie campaign, going 28-for-33 on field-goal attempts and 46-for-48 on extra points. McPherson is a safe bet to open training camp as Cincinnati's kicker for 2022.

  • Matt Gay K | SF

Rams' Matt Gay: Doesn't miss in Super Bowl victory

Gay connected on his only field-goal attempt and both of his extra-point tries during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

Gay's only field goal was a 41-yard kick to cut the Bengals' lead to 20-16 halfway through the third quarter. While the 28-year-old kicker was perfect on the night, the kicking unit was not, as holder Johnny Hekker fumbled a snap during an extra-point attempt after the Rams' second touchdown of the game. On the season, Gay connected on 32 of his 34 field goals and 48 of his 49 PATs en route to the best campaign of his three-year career. He's set to be a restricted free agent this offseason, but the Rams likely want him back in 2022.

  • Tyler Bass K | BUF

Bills' Tyler Bass: Big numbers in second season

Bass finished the 2021 season with 135 points, converting on 28 of 32 field-goal attempts and all 51 of his extra-point tries.

Missing only four of 83 kicks is pretty amazing considering the conditions Bass faces in Buffalo, and he's proven to be worth a rare draft selection as a placekicker -- he was chosen in the sixth round of the 2020 Draft. The point total landed Bass in a tie for sixth in the league, and there's little reason to suspect he won't be a top-10 guy again next season given the high-powered offense supporting him, one with an elite quarterback that isn't going anywhere for the next several seasons.
