  • Josh Allen QB | BUF

Bills' Josh Allen: Rushing TD covers for poor passing

Allen completed 11 of 18 passes for 154 yards and an interception while rushing 10 times for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots.

Allen was held without a passing touchdown for the second week in a row, but he scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season from two yards out to put his team up 21-14 early in the fourth quarter. With wide receiver John Brown (knee) playing at less than 100 percent, Buffalo's passing game has taken a major step back after a hot start despite continued production from Stefon Diggs (six catches for 92 yards). Despite his recent struggles through the air, Allen's rushing production keeps him near the upper echelon of fantasy quarterback options, and he gets a great opportunity to find his mojo as a passer with the struggling Seahawks secondary coming to town in Week 9.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Falls short against Vikings

Rodgers completed 27 of 41 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Vikings.

All three TD passes went to Davante Adams, but Minnesota's Dalvin Cook was even better with four scores of his own, and Rodgers fumbled after a sack on the final play of the game while trying to engineer a game-winning drive. He's thrown for at least three touchdowns in five of seven starts this season en route to a stellar 20:2 TD:INT, but Rodgers could face stiffer opposition in Week 9 from the 49ers' secondary.

  • Jared Goff QB | DET

Rams' Jared Goff: Mistake-laden performance in loss

Goff completed 35 of 61 passes for 355 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in the Rams' 28-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. He also lost two fumbles.

The stat line partly tells the tale of how nightmarish an afternoon it was for Goff, who ran into a rested Dolphins team coming off a bye that consistently tormented him from the middle of the first quarter onward. The 26-year-old's second-quarter fumble was returned 78 yards by Andrew Van Ginkel for a touchdown, a miscue that was preceded by an interception that also eventually led to a trip to the end zone for the Dolphins. Goff took two sacks as well and managed to salvage the day for fantasy managers through sheer volume dictated by game script. Goff easily smashed his season high in pass attempts as a result, but he and his teammates will look to return to a much more balanced attack in a Week 10 divisional battle versus the Seahawks following the Week 9 bye.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Produces efficiently in win

Burrow completed 26 of 37 pass attempts for 249 yards and two touchdowns while adding nine yards on three carries during Sunday's 31-20 win over the Titans.

Burrow completed 70 percent of his pass attempts while spreading the ball around to seven different receivers, despite windy conditions. He completed touchdown passes to Giovani Bernard and Tyler Boyd while avoiding a turnover for the first time in the last five games. Burrow has made the most of favorable matchups over the last two games, piling up 455 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception. He will now take the bye week to further improve his grasp of the offense before a challenging matchup with the Steelers in Week 10.

  • Tua Tagovailoa QB | ATL

Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Modest numbers in starting debut

Tagovailoa completed 12 of 22 passes for 93 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Dolphins' 28-17 win over the Rams on Sunday. He also netted zero yards on two rushes and lost a fumble.

The heralded rookie didn't exactly light up the stat sheet in his first NFL start, but that was somewhat by design. Things didn't start off too well for the Alabama product, either, as he coughed up the ball on his second play from scrimmage, fumbling at his own 18-yard line on a sack by Aaron Donald. While that turnover led to a Rams touchdown, Tagovailoa settled down afterward, capping off a late first-quarter drive following a Miami interception with his first career touchdown pass to DeVante Parker. The Dolphins defense and special teams were of great help to Tagovailoa as well, as Jared Goff was picked off and sacked two times apiece, Andrew Van Ginkel returned a fumble 78 yards for a touchdown, and Jakeem Grant ran back a punt 88 yards for a score. Tagovailoa now will study the film and prepare for a Week 9 interconference battle versus the Cardinals.

  • Kirk Cousins QB | LV

Vikings' Kirk Cousins: Quiet performance in win

Cousins completed 11 of 14 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-22 win over the Packers.

Dalvin Cook did all the work for the Vikings, scoring three rushing TDs before taking a screen pass from Cousins 50 yards for the winning touchdown late in the third quarter. Still, the veteran QB didn't commit any turnovers, just the second time in seven starts this season he's avoided coughing up the ball. Cousins could be a little more involved in Week 9 against a Lions defense that just gave up three passing TDs to Philip Rivers.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Throws two TDs in loss

Tannehill completed 18 of 30 pass attempts for 233 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while adding 20 yards on two carries during Sunday's 31-20 loss to the Bengals.

Tannehill completed a pedestrian 60 percent of his passes for the second straight week, as he struggled through the early going. Although his team trailed throughout and ultimately suffered its second straight loss, he salvaged his day from a fantasy perspective with touchdown passes to A.J. Brown and Corey Davis in the fourth quarter. Tannehill sports an impressive 17:3 TD:INT for the season, but his passing yardage totals have been inconsistent and he's now been held under 250 yards in five of seven games. He'll look to improve his efficiency next Sunday in a tough matchup with the Bears.

  • Lions' Matthew Stafford: Stifled by Colts

Stafford completed 24 of 42 passes for 336 yards, three touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 41-21 loss to Indianapolis. He also rushed once for 10 yards and lost a fumble.

Failing to overcome a stagnant running game against a tough Colts defense, Stafford came through in the stat sheet but he did not have a good game in reality. The veteran seemingly missed a number of completable passes and his two turnovers - a fumble and a pick-six -- combined with an injury to top receiver Kenny Golladay (hip) to prevent Detroit from getting out of an early hole. Fortunately for the entire Lions offense, Week 9 brings a get-right matchup against a porous Minnesota defense that allowed the third-most yards per pass attempt leaguewide (8.5) before suffering numerous injuries in the secondary during Sunday's game against Green Bay.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Jets' Sam Darnold: Possible shoulder injury in loss

Darnold completed 18 of 30 passes for 133 yards and rushed four times for 21 yards in Sunday's 35-9 loss to Kansas City, but he may have re-injured his shoulder.

Darnold's three-game passing touchdown drought has him stuck on three passing scores and four total touchdowns through six games played. In his second game back from a shoulder injury, Darnold appeared to get banged up in the shoulder region late, and coach Adam Gase said after the game that the team will re-evaluate the injury, though Darnold appears to be okay, per ESPN's RIch Cimini. Even if he avoids a setback with the shoulder, Darnold's dearth of weapons -- which was magnified in this one with Jamison Crowder's (groin) absence -- will make it difficult for the struggling quarterback to get much going against the Patriots in Week 9.

  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Tosses five TDs in blowout win

Mahomes completed 31 of 42 passes for 416 yards and five touchdowns in Sunday's 35-9 win over the Jets.

Mahomes came out of the gate on fire, completing all five of his passes for 85 yards on the opening drive, which he capped with a 30-yard touch-pass touchdown to Mecole Hardman. The Chiefs needed a fake punt to keep their next drive alive, but Mahomes took advantage of the successful trick play with a 36-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill on the very next play. That hot start was only the tip of the iceberg for the superstar quarterback, who added touchdowns to Travis Kelce (three yards), Demarcus Robinson (26) and Hill again (41) before handing off to backup Chad Henne for mop-up duty. Mahomes matched his passing touchdown total from the previous three games combined while throwing more than two touchdowns for only the third time this season. He's capable of heating up in a hurry, though, and will look to build on this effort in Week 9 against the Panthers.
