  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Pulled for backup in laugher

Mahomes went 15-for-23 passing with 200 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions during Sunday's 43-16 win against the Broncos.

Mahomes didn't exactly have to take over in this one as Kansas City rolled the Broncos with TDs on both special teams and defense. Thanks to a powerful Chiefs running game, as well as a defense that ranks No. 2 in takeaways (13), Mahomes ended the month of October exceeding 30 pass attempts in just one of four games. Though he was efficient on those opportunities with a 63.6 percent completion rate and a 7:1 TD:INT, the mold of Kansas City's team has altered in a way that he isn't currently being asked to put up gaudy numbers weekly. He may do so anyway in Week 8 when Kansas City takes on the winless Jets at Arrowhead Stadium.

  • Jaguars' Gardner Minshew: Has so-so showing Sunday

Minshew completed 14 of 27 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns while rushing four times for 21 yards during Sunday's 39-29 road defeat to the Chargers.

Prior to the game, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Minshew's job security was thinning, and he didn't exactly help his cause with this Week 7 performance. While he tossed multiple touchdowns for the fifth time and avoided throwing a pick for the third occasion in seven games, he matched his season low in passing yards, and his 51.9 completion percentage stands alone as his worst in a single contest on the campaign. The Jaguars have a bye week on tap, so coach Doug Marrone will have time to evaluate Minshew before making a decision on a Week 9 starter under center. Behind Minshew, Mike Glennon and rookie sixth-rounder Jake Luton are the next players up at quarterback in Jacksonville.

  • Justin Herbert QB | LAC

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Explosive effort earns first win

Herbert completed 27 of 43 pass attempts for 347 yards and three touchdowns during Sunday's 39-29 win over the Jaguars. He also had nine carries for 66 yards and a score.

Herbert had arguably the sloppiest first half of his young career Sunday, but he rallied back to notch a season-best mark in terms of passing yards while logging his second straight game with four scores. He also showcased his athleticism on the ground, setting more career-high tallies in terms of both rushing yards and carries. Through five starts, Herbert now boasts a 12:3 TD:INT ratio through the air, an exceptional mark that's come in large part due to his chemistry with favorite target Keenan Allen, who had 10 catches for 125 yards on 13 targets Sunday. Though Herbert has shown a willingness to hand Allen double-digit targets on a weekly basis, he's also proven a cerebral enough passer to exploit whatever opposing defenses give him. While the Jaguars did a solid job of keeping Mike Williams and Hunter Henry covered, Herbert responded by completing touchdown passes to backup tight ends Virgil Green (ankle) and Donald Parham, in addition to finding Jalen Guyton for a 70-yard score. Herbert will get a tough road matchup against the Broncos in Week 8, but he's given fantasy managers plenty of reason to feel confident in him as a high-end option.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Nearly completes comeback win

Tannehill completed 18 of 30 pass attempts for 220 yards and two touchdowns in Week 7 against the Steelers.

Tannehill attempted only 11 passes for a total of 50 yards and a touchdown in the first half. However, with the Titans down 24-7, he was forced to turn to the air regularly in the comeback effort. Though the team fell short due to a missed field goal by Stephen Gostkowski, Tannehill racked up an additional touchdown and 170 yards in the final two quarters. A large portion of that production came on a 73-yard completion to A.J. Brown that reached the end zone midway through the third quarter. Though it was a down performance for Tannehill, he has still managed multiple touchdown passes in five of six contests this season. He and the Titans will draw a Week 8 matchup against the Bengals.

  • Derek Carr QB | NO

Raiders' Derek Carr: Pair of TDs in loss

Carr completed 24 of 36 passes for 284 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the Raiders' 45-20 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also rushed twice for 19 yards and fumbled once, but it was recovered by the offense.

Carr and the Raiders appeared to be on their way to a prolific afternoon after the veteran quarterback hit Nelson Agholor with a perfect 20-yard scoring strike on a post pattern early in the first quarter. However, Carr was able to lead only one other first-half scoring march -- one that culminated in a 42-yard field goal -- and added just a one-yard scoring toss to Darren Waller the rest of the way as far as fantasy impact plays are concerned. However, Carr's numbers weren't bad in a cumulative sense, as he managed multiple TDs for the fifth straight contest and posted his third-highest yardage tally of the season. With the blowout loss now behind them, Carr and his teammates will look to atone in Week 8 against the Browns.

  • Lions' Matthew Stafford: Breaks 300 passing yards in win

Stafford went 25-for-36 passing with 340 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions during Sunday's 23-22 win against the Falcons.

Stafford had committed an interception in consecutive outings entering Sunday's matchup, but he cleaned up his act by gifting zero giveaways to Atlanta in Week 7. Stafford's passing total towered over his season average of 248 passing yards per game entering the contest, though he was held to just one passing TD for the third time in six starts. Stafford's Week 8 opponent, Indianapolis, entered Sunday allowing the second-fewest passing TDs in the NFL with seven.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Picks apart Texans

Rodgers completed 23 of 34 pass attempts for 283 yards and four touchdowns in Week 7 against the Texans.

Rodgers led the Packers to four touchdowns on their first six possessions, throwing for a score on each occasion. He connected with Davante Adams for a 45-yard touchdown late in the third quarter but otherwise worked the team steadily down the field for three scores within the five-yard line. It was a much more characteristic performance for Rodgers, who struggled in a Week 6 matchup against Tampa Bay. He and Green Bay will take on the Vikings in another exploitable matchup in Week 8.

  • Deshaun Watson QB | CLE

Texans' Deshaun Watson: Tops 300 yards

Watson completed 29 of 39 pass attempts for 309 yards and two touchdowns in Week 7 against the Packers. He added seven rushes for 38 yards.

Watson couldn't keep pace with Aaron Rodgers but managed to reach 300 passing yards for the fourth consecutive game. While he was able to average 7.9 yards per attempt, Watson didn't gash the Packers for many long plays, with the longest gain coming on a dump off to Duke Johnson for 30 yards. He also threw multiple touchdowns for fifth consecutive contest, finding the end zone on passes from three and six yards. Watson and the Texans will draw their bye in Week 8 but will retake the field to face Jacksonville in Week 9.

  • Kyle Allen QB | BUF

Football Team's Kyle Allen: Throws two TD passes

Allen completed 15 of 25 pass attempts for 194 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 25-3 win over the Cowboys. He also carried four times for 11 yards.

Allen managed a season-best 7.8 yards per attempt while completing a 52-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin and adding a 15-yard strike to Logan Thomas in the second quarter. He wasn't especially productive the rest of the way, but he didn't need to do much as the Dallas offense struggled both before and after Andy Dalton (concussion) left the game. Allen now has a 4:1 TD:INT to go along with 474 passing yards over the last two games and will look to continue his respectable play in Week 9 against the Giants.

  • Josh Allen QB | BUF

Bills' Josh Allen: Piles up yardage but no TDs

Allen completed 30 of 43 passes for 307 yards in Sunday's 18-10 win over the Jets. He added 11 carries for 61 yards and lost a fumble.

Allen found sledding surprisingly tough against the winless Jets, failing to find the end zone after tossing multiple touchdowns in each of his first six games. He lost a costly fumble on 3rd-and-goal down 3-0 in the second quarter, but Allen had no problem moving the ball into field-goal range throughout the contest, as kicker Tyler Bass converted six field goals and missed another two. Allen also led the Bills in both carries and rushing yards, setting a new season high in the latter category. He'll hope to get injured No. 2 receiver John Brown (knee) back when the Patriots come to town in Week 8.
