  • Derek Carr QB | NO

Raiders' Derek Carr: Efficient Week 1 outing

Carr completed 22 of 26 attempts for 259 passing yards and one touchdown, while adding two rushes for two yards during Monday's 24-16 win against Denver.

Carr connected on his first nine passes of the night, while leading 10 and 13-play touchdown drives on two of Oakland's first three offensive possessions. What's most encouraging for fantasy purposes is the re-appearance of Carr's downfield explosiveness. The 28-year-old signal-caller averaged 10 yards per pass attempt against the Broncos defense Monday night, a feat he had not accomplished since Week 12 of the 2017 season when Oakland went up against -- guess who -- Denver. Carr's upcoming matchup against Kansas City has potential to be profitable, as the Chiefs allowed Nick Foles (collarbone) and rookie Gardner Minshew to combine for 350 passing yards and three passing touchdowns Week 1.

  • Deshaun Watson QB | CLE

Texans' Deshaun Watson: Heroic despite dramatic defeat

Watson completed 20 of 30 attempts for 268 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Monday night's 30-28 loss to the Saints. He also rushed four times for 40 yards and another score.

Watson put together a gutsy performance to begin his third season, as he opened the scoring with a 21-yard touchdown run on fourth down to start the second quarter. However, on that play, Watson appeared to land on his back after making a diving effort across the goal line. That resulted in him visiting the Texans' medical tent on a couple occasions afterward. Nonetheless, Watson didn't miss a snap, and despite being sacked six times, he delivered a pair of touchdowns to top wideout DeAndre Hopkins. He then displayed his flair for the dramatic by going for 75 yards on two plays on Houston's final offensive drive, which he capped with a 37-yard, go-ahead touchdown dart to Kenny Stills with under a minute remaining. Although his team ultimately didn't get the win, Watson certainly showed his toughness and talent in another impressive outing.

  • Deshaun Watson QB | CLE

Texans' Deshaun Watson: In and out of sideline tent

Watson went to the sideline medical tent near the end of the first half of Monday's game at New Orleans, Will Brinson of CBS Sports reports.

Watson actually did the same thing after scoring a rushing touchdown earlier in the second quarter, but he returned to the field and manned the Texans offense on a 16-play drive that gobbled up 7:35 off the play clock en route to another TD. Upon returning to the sideline, he entered the tent again, after which Lisa Salters said on the ESPN broadcast, "It appears his back is bothering him." Whatever Watson is dealing with, he's played through it so far and will have halftime to receive additional treatment.

  • Browns' Baker Mayfield: Ready to practice

Mayfield (wrist) will not miss any practice time, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Mayfield suffered multiple bruises on his right wrist during Sunday's loss to the Titans, but X-rays came back negative. It's positive news that the second-year quarterback won't be required to miss any time due to injury, and he'll benefit from an extra day of recovery ahead of Monday's contest against the Jets. Still, it remains to be seen whether Mayfield will have to work through pain while throwing Week 2.

  • Jaguars' Gardner Minshew: Team adds QB depth

With Nick Foles (clavicle) slated to go on IR and get a designated to return label, and Minshew the only healthy QB on the Jaguars' roster after Week 1, the team will trade a fifth-round pick to Pittsburgh for Josh Dobbs, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.

Minshew filled in well for Foles in Sunday's contest and should remain the team's starter for the foreseeable future. However, given that the team parted ways with a draft pick, Dobbs could, in theory, compete for the starting job down the road (once he picks up the Jacksonville offense) in the event that Minshew's play regresses in the coming weeks.

  • Joshua Dobbs QB | DET

Jaguars' Joshua Dobbs: Traded to Jacksonville

The Steelers traded Dobbs to the Jaguars on Monday in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round draft pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Jaguars needed to add another quarterback behind Gardner Minshew after Nick Foles suffered a broken clavicle in Sunday's season-opening loss to Kansas City. The team could've done worse than Dobbs, a 2017 fourth-round pick who lost a backup QB battle to Mason Rudolph in Pittsburgh. Dobbs has thrown seven interceptions on 140 career pass attempts in the preseason, but he also proved capable of moving the Pittsburgh offense, both with his arms and his feet. With Foles out for at least the first half of the season, Dobbs could eventually have a chance to make starts, depending on Minshew's health and performance.

  • Nate Sudfeld QB | SF

Eagles' Nate Sudfeld: Still weeks from recovery

Sudfeld (wrist) is expected to remain sidelined for a few more weeks, Mike Kaye of NJ.com reports.

Sudfeld is recovering from Aug. 9 surgery to repair a broken left wrist, at which time he was given an initial timetable of six weeks. He'll remain sidelined during the early weeks of the regular season as expected, and will compete with Josh McCown for the backup job when healthy.

  • Browns' Baker Mayfield: Gets good news from X-rays

Mayfield appears to have multiple bruises, but X-rays on his right wrist came back negative, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

It sounds like Mayfield is banged up more so than injured, though he did have a wrap around his hand and wrist after Sunday's 43-13 loss to the Titans. He'll be glad to have an extra day for recovery Week 2, with the Browns heading to New York to face the Jets on Monday Night Football. Even so, it won't come as any surprise if Mayfield's practice participation is impacted in the coming days, as the bruise on his right wrist could make it painful to throw.

  • Kyler Murray QB | MIN

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Perseveres after rough start

Murray completed 29 of 54 pass attempts for 308 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 27-all tie with the Lions.

Murray started in putrid fashion and led the offense to just 53 yards in the first half. He caught fire in the fourth quarter, however, setting a rookie record for fourth-quarter passing as he brought his team back to salvage a tie. Somewhat surprisingly, Murray wasn't very involved much as a runner and finished with just 13 yards on three carries despite playing a hefty allotment of snaps, though the game flow could've been a large factor in that regard. It was a positive sign that he was able to find himself after a rough start, but next Sunday's road matchup against the Ravens is quite daunting.

  • Andy Dalton QB | PHI

Bengals' Andy Dalton: Sets new career high in passing

Dalton completed 35 of 51 pass attempts for 418 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions during Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Seahawks. He also lost a pair of fumbles.

Dalton took to the air as his team fell behind and Joe Mixon was injured, finishing with a new career high in passing yardage. A large chunk of his production came on touchdown passes of 33 and 55 yards to John Ross, who had a huge day in his own right. He did hurt his team with a pair of fumbles at crucial junctures, although one appeared to be an incomplete pass before the call was overturned. Expectations for Dalton were not high coming into the season, so this productive debut is a happy surprise to his fantasy owners. If Mixon is forced to miss time, Dalton could be forced to air it out again next Sunday against the 49ers.
