  • Mac Jones QB | SF

49ers' Mac Jones: Aggravates knee injury in win

Jones said he aggravated a previous knee injury in Sunday's win over the Cardinals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Jones said he dealt with a sprained PCL over the summer and aggravated it in the second half of Sunday's victory. Jones was able to stay in the game and finish the contest with a knee brace. With Brock Purdy (shoulder/toe) nearing a return, potentially as soon as Week 4 against the Jaguars, Jones may get time to heal. Adrian Martinez is next up on the depth chart as the Niners' QB3.

  • Carson Wentz QB | MIN

Vikings' Carson Wentz: Two TDs in Sunday's start

Wentz completed 14 of 20 passes for 173 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding two rush attempts for four yards in the Vikings' 48-10 win over the Bengals on Sunday.

Making the first of what project to be multiple starts in place of J.J. McCarthy (ankle), Wentz enjoyed some good fortune in the form of game script. The veteran signal-caller certainly had a hand in that by connecting with Josh Oliver on a 12-yard touchdown pass to cap off the opening possession, and the Vikings' defense's ability to repeatedly stymie fellow backup-turned-starter Jake Browning also played out favorably for Wentz in terms of being able to continue running a balanced offense. The Vikings eventually ran away with the game beginning in the second quarter, leaving Wentz in a low-pressure scenario that he thrived in. With McCarthy's recovery expected to take multiple weeks, Wentz projects to remain under center when the Vikings face off with the Steelers in Dublin, Ireland next Sunday.

  • Joe Flacco QB | CIN

Browns' Joe Flacco: Modest numbers in Week 3 win

Flacco completed 21 of 36 passes for 142 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in the Browns' 13-10 win over the Packers on Sunday.

As his final numbers indicate, Flacco didn't play particularly well, finishing with under 200 passing yards for the second straight game while also failing to throw at least one touchdown pass for the first time this season. Flacco did spread the ball around effectively to eight different pass catchers, although David Njoku's 40 receiving yards qualified as a team-high figure. The veteran signal-caller did complete a key eight-yard pass to Njoku on Cleveland's final drive to set up Andre Szmyt's game-winning field goal, and Flacco will continue under center in a challenging Week 4 road matchup against the Lions next Sunday afternoon.

  • Falcons' Michael Penix: Takes step back in Week 3 loss

Penix completed 18 of 36 passes for 172 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions while adding two rushes for nine yards in the Falcons' 30-0 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.

Over his first five NFL starts, Penix hadn't come close to scuffling in the manner he did Sunday, and the fact the opponent was a Panthers squad that had struggled on defense over the first two games made his poor effort all the more alarming. Penix threw multiple interceptions for the first time as a pro, and he was under 200 passing yards for the second straight game. While the low passing volume was by design in a dominant Week 2 win over the Vikings, Sunday's downturn was directly correlated to how well the opposing defense stymied his efforts. Penix and the Falcons will welcome the Commanders for a Week 4 matchup next Sunday, a game that could pit the second-year signal caller against fellow 2024 first-rounder Jayden Daniels if the latter can play through his knee injury.

  • Justin Herbert QB | LAC

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Stellar in win

Herbert completed 28 of 47 pass attempts for 300 passing yards to go along with a touchdown and an interception in a 23-20 win over the Broncos on Sunday. He also scrambled twice for six yards.

Herbert made two absolutely stunning throws in this one, the latter connecting for a game-tying touchdown by Keenan Allen on a broken play in the fourth quarter. The sixth-year quarterback has been absolutely scintillating to start 2025 and does not appear to be flustered by any matchup. Even Herbert's lone blemish came on a dropped pass that caromed back to the waiting arms of Broncos safety Brandon Jones. Sunday's 47 pass attempts is tied for the Pro Bowler's most since 2023 and seemed to be a byproduct of the team trying to claw back during a second half that largely saw the Chargers trailing.

  • Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield: Held to one TD in Sunday's win

Mayfield completed 19 of 29 passes for 233 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 29-27 win over the Jets. He added 44 rushing yards on four carries.

Five Chase McLaughlin field goals and a 55-yard Jamel Dean INT return for a TD accounted for most of Tampa Bay's scoring on the afternoon, but Mayfield did hit Mike Evans for a five-yard strike in the second quarter, giving him a 6:0 TD:INT to begin the season. Evans left the game with a hamstring injury late in the contest, but Chris Godwin (ankle) could be ready to return next week and rookie Emeka Egbuka has already made a significant impact through his first three NFL games, so Mayfield should still have dangerous downfield options available if his veteran No. 1 wideout is sidelined for a Week 4 tilt against the Eagles.

  • Bengals' Jake Browning: Rough afternoon in lopsided loss

Browning completed 19 of 27 passes for 140 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and rushed once for three yards in the Bengals' 48-10 loss to the Vikings on Sunday.

The Vikings jumped on Browning and the Bengals early, establishing a 14-0 lead through one quarter, and the veteran backup was never able to get his side of the ball fully on track. Browning ultimately took three sacks and tossed a pair of picks in Minnesota territory, the first of which was a pick-six in the first quarter. Browning has demonstrated the ability to play appreciably better than he demonstrated Sunday in a game that got out of hand due largely to turnovers, but atoning for the poor performance in Week 4 could be a heavy lift with a road trip to Denver for a Monday night, Sept. 29 date with the Broncos on tap.

  • Jameis Winston QB | NYG

Giants' Jameis Winston: Emergency QB vs. Kansas City

Winston (coach's decision) is inactive but will serve as the Giants' emergency third quarterback against the Chiefs on Sunday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Winston will be the Giants' emergency QB for a third consecutive week while Jaxson Dart serves as the backup behind Russell Wilson. Winston is not allowed to play Sunday unless Wilson and Dart were both removed from the game due to injury, illness or ejection.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Continues scuffling in Week 3 win

Lawrence completed 20 of 40 passes for 222 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while rushing twice for nine yards in the Jaguars' 17-10 win over the Texans on Sunday.

Lawrence averaged just 5.6 yards per attempt while failing to throw a touchdown for the first time in three games this season. The 2021 first overall pick spread the ball around to nine different pass catchers overall, and he leveraged another impressive performance by his defense to help the Jaguars garner their second win of the season. To date, Lawrence has concerningly completed just 55.8 of his pass attempts in head coach Liam Coen's typically QB-friendly offense, and he draws another tough matchup in a Week 4 road clash against the 49ers.

  • Jordan Love QB | GB

Packers' Jordan Love: Falls victim to Browns D

Love completed 18 of 25 passes for 183 yards with a touchdown and an interception and rushed four times for 18 yards in the Packers' 13-10 loss to the Browns on Sunday.

Love's final stat line -- not to mention the final score -- both hint plenty at what type of day it was for the Packers offense, and additional insight can be gleaned from the fact Love was sacked five times and hit seven times overall. The talented signal-caller had a tight circle of six targets overall in his first full game of 2025 without Jayden Reed (IR-collarbone/foot), and his interception at his own 29-yard line with just over three minutes remaining set the Browns up for a game-tying touchdown. Love has thrown for under 200 yards in two of his first three games, but he takes an impressive 5:1 TD:INT into a Week 4 Sunday night road matchup against the Cowboys.
