  • Case Keenum QB | CHI

Rams' Case Keenum: Receives support from coach

Keenum has the support of head coach Jeff Fisher to remain the Rams' starting quarterback, ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reports.

Keenum threw four interceptions in Los Angeles' third straight loss Sunday, entering the Rams' bye week on a sour note. Although that performance has sparked more noise for rookie No. 1 pick Jared Goff to be promoted to the team's starting quarterback, coach Fisher says he's sticking with Keenum, and Goff isn't ready for the job yet. As a result, it appears the veteran Keenum will keep his spot when the Rams take the field in Week 9 against the Panthers.

  • Brian Hoyer QB | LV

Bears' Brian Hoyer: Has arm surgery

Hoyer underwent surgery on his broken left arm and will likely be placed on injured reserve, according to coach John Fox.

Hoyer's injury and subsequent surgery coincides with quarterback Jay Cutler (thumb) being cleared to return Monday. While that should keep the Bears in relatively good shape at the position, Hoyer will now face an extended period on the sidelines, although it remains to be seen whether he'll indeed be placed on injured reserve. Regardless, Matt Barkley figures to serve as Chicago's second-string quarterback while Hoyer is out.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Jets' Geno Smith: MRI believed to reveal torn ACL

Smith (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn ACL, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Smith was initially thought to have avoided a serious injury, but the initial results of Monday's MRI are believed to suggest otherwise. To pin down a definitive diagnosis, Smith will visit Dr. James Andrew on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. If a torn ACL is confirmed, Smith would miss the remainder of this season, paving the way for Ryan Fitzpatrick to reclaim the Jets' starting quarterback job.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Jets' Geno Smith: Knee thought to be fine

Smith's knee is believed to be "fine", but he'll still undergo an MRI on Monday as a precaution, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Smith was kept out of Sunday's game after twisting his knee while getting tackled during the second quarter. While the extent of his problem is unclear at the moment, Smith's knee injury evidently isn't thought to be serious. Monday's MRI should help clarify his situation, at which point his outlook for upcoming action should be sorted out as well.

  • Andy Dalton QB | PHI

Bengals' Andy Dalton: Two touchdowns in win over Browns

Dalton completed 19 of 28 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Browns.

Dalton set the tone by leading the offense to three first-half touchdown drives, including a 48-yard Hail Mary at the end of the first half to A.J. Green. The Red Rifle has quietly had a nice start to the season and now owns a 8:2 TD:INT ratio in addition to a healthy average of 295 passing yards per game. He is providing strong returns for fantasy owners at the moment and will look to continue his recent success in Week 8 versus the Redskins.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Throws for 225 yards in 6-6 tie

Wilson completed 24 of 37 passes for 225 yards and lost two yards on his only carry in Sunday's 6-6 tie in Arizona.

The Cardinals dominated possession in a 75-minute game without any touchdowns, running 90 plays to Seattle's 57. As the stat line suggests, Wilson's mobility is clearly still limited due to the ankle and knee sprains he suffered in September. He hasn't run for more than 16 yards in any game this season, with seven or fewer yards in each of his past four contests. Wilson has mostly remained effective as a passer, albeit without any touchdowns the past two weeks. He'll have an excellent chance to get back on the board in a favorable Week matchup at New Orleans.

  • Kirk Cousins QB | LV

Redskins' Kirk Cousins: Throws, runs for scores

Cousins connected on 30 of 39 pass attempts for 301 yards and a touchdown and added 19 yards and a touchdown on three carries in Sunday's loss to Detroit. He fumbled twice during the contest, losing one.

After keeping quiet for much of the game, Cousins was an Anquan Boldin touchdown away of leading a Washington comeback. The passer led Washington to its first touchdown of the game midway through the fourth quarter with a one-yard dump off to Rob Kelley and then followed up with a 19-yard keep on a zone read for Washington's second score - giving them the lead with just moments left. Running the ball was an underrated component of Cousins' game last season - ranking among the top quarterbacks with five rushing scores. Cousins is on pace for six fewer touchdown passes than last year, but the pace drops to nine off when you factor in rushing - illustrating why Cousins is not performing as well this season from a fantasy perspective despite an uptick in yardage.

  • Jameis Winston QB | NYG

Buccaneers' Jameis Winston: Tosses three touchdowns in win at San Francisco

Winston completed 21 of 30 passes for 269 yards, with three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 34-17 win at San Francisco.

Winston was great statistically in the first half, completing 12 of 18 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns, although he also threw an ugly interception and committed a personal foul in the red zone. He played more efficiently in the second half, tossing a well-placed jump ball to Mike Evans for a five-yard touchdown. Despite flashes of brilliance, Winston has to do a better job protecting the ball, as he's committed 12 turnovers in six games. The second-year QB has a decent matchup next week against Oakland.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Modest but mistake-free showing in Week 7 win

Tannehill completed 15 of 25 passes for 204 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 28-25 victory over the Bills. He also gained 21 yards on six rushes.

Tannehill stayed mistake-free for the second straight week while once again allowing Jay Ajayi to carry the majority of the offensive load on his capable shoulders. The game script for the last two games has essentially been the ideal one for Tannehill, whose propensity for errors often rises in proportion to the amount of times he has to put the ball up. The fifth-year pro has now impressively completed 68.4 percent (39-for-57) of his passes over the last two games and has hit passes of 53 and 66 yards in those contests, with the latter a spectacular scoring connecting with Kenny Stills on Sunday. He'll look to continue this solid play against the Jets in Week 9 following the Dolphins' bye in Week 8.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Titans' Marcus Mariota: Throws two touchdowns but loses costly fumble

Mariota completed 22 of 37 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and added two carries for 14 yards Sunday against the Colts. He also lost one of two fumbles in a 34-26 loss.

Mariota's first touchdown pass was to offensive tackle Taylor Lewan from 10 yards out, while his second was a more conventional seven-harder to top target Delanie Walker. He did a good job of maneuvering Tennessee's balanced attack down the field for most of the afternoon, but had a fumble returned for a touchdown with the Titans trailing by four inside the two-minute warning. The second-year quarterback has been trending upward with an impressive 8:1 touchdown to interception ratio over the past three weeks.
