  • Mac Jones QB | SF

Patriots' Mac Jones: Logs 2,120 passing yards in 2023

Jones appeared in 11 games during the 2023 season, completing 224 of 345 pass attempts (64.9 percent) for 2,120 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while adding 96 rushing yards on 26 carries.

Jones, who was supplanted as the Patriots' starting quarterback in Week 13 by Bailey Zappe, finished his third NFL season as a healthy inactive in the Patriots' Week 18 loss to the Jets. Per Evan Lazar of the team's official site,, Jones is unlikely to have his fifth-year contract option exercised by New England this offseason. Jones will still remain on the Patriots' books through 2024, but it's unclear if he'll be given a chance to compete for the starting gig during the upcoming season. Lazar suggests that the signal-caller could be dealt this offseason and thus get a fresh start in a new locale.

  • Jeff Driskel QB | WAS

Browns' Jeff Driskel: Will be backup Saturday

Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Wednesday that Driskel will be the top backup to starting quarterback Joe Flacco in Saturday's wild-card game at Houston, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.

While filing in as the starter for a resting Flacco in Week 18, Driskel had an uninspiring performance in Sunday's 31-14 loss at Cincinnati. The journeyman signal-caller completed 13 of 26 attempts for 166 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, with both scores coming in the fourth quarter when the outcome was all but decided. The Browns apparently saw enough from Driskel to keep him ahead of No. 3 quarterback PJ Walker as the team opens its playoff run.

  • Max Duggan QB | LAC

Chargers' Max Duggan: Signs deal with Los Angeles

The Chargers signed Duggan to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Selected 239th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of TCU, Duggan was cut ahead of Week 1 and spent the season mostly on the Chargers' practice squad. He was called up a couple times after Justin Herbert's injury but never appeared in a game. Duggan will compete for a backup job in the offseason.

  • Mason Rudolph QB | PIT

Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Named starter for wild-card round

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Tuesday that Rudolph will remain the team's starting quarterback for Sunday's wild-card game in Buffalo, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.

Tomlin said he's "staying with the hot hand" after Rudolph helped lead Pittsburgh to three consecutive victories to close out the regular season and clinch a postseason berth. The fifth-year quarterback was supremely efficient in the three starts, completing 53 of 71 passes (74.6 percent) for 716 yards (10.1 per attempt) and three touchdowns while committing just one turnover (a lost fumble). Though 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett appears to have fully healed from his right high-ankle sprain, his uninspiring numbers as the team's starter earlier in the campaign along with Rudolph's tremendous success to close out of the regular season made it an easy decision for Tomlin to stick with the latter.

  • Tommy DeVito QB | NE

Giants' Tommy DeVito: Gets cameo in Week 18 win

DeVito completed both of his pass attempts for 14 yards in Sunday's 27-10 victory versus Philadelphia.

Tyrod Taylor started for New York for the second straight week, but DeVito took over for a series in the first quarter after the former suffered a thumb injury. DeVito completed a five-yard pass on that drive but wasn't able to lead New York to a first down, and Taylor returned for the team's next offensive series. DeVito got one more look in the third quarter and logged a nine-yard completion on his final pass attempt of the campaign. The rookie QB finished the season having completed 64.0 percent of his 178 pass attempts for 1,101 yards and an 8:3 TD:INT while rushing 36 times for 195 yards and a touchdown over nine games, including six starts. DeVito's opportunity to play this season was largely a result of injuries -- Daniel Jones tore the ACL in his right knee Week 9 and was lost for the remainder of the year, and Taylor sat out Weeks 9-14 with an injury to his rib cage. That said, DeVito provided a spark (and a good underdog story) at times after being pressed into action, and he has a strong chance of working as Jones' backup next year with Taylor a free agent and likely set to land elsewhere.

  • Dresser Winn QB | LAR

Dresser Winn: Heads back to practice squad

The Rams reverted Winn to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Winn was called up for the Rams' regular-season finale to serve as the backup to Carson Wentz with Matthew Stafford (coach's decision) resting. It was the second time Winn was elevated to the active roster, with the first instance taking place in Week 9 against the Packers.

  • Chris Oladokun: Reverts to practice squad

The Chiefs reverted Oladokun to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Oladokun was called up for the Chiefs' regular-season finale against the Chargers with Patrick Mahomes (ankle) sitting out for the contest. Oladokun served as the backup to Blaine Gabbert but didn't see the field.

  • Ben DiNucci QB | DEN

Broncos' Ben DiNucci: Back with Broncos for 2024

The Broncos signed DiNucci to a reserve/future contract for the 2024 season Monday, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

DiNucci did not see the field for Denver in 2023, but he did spend the entire season with its practice squad and will now compete for a spot on its 53-man roster in 2024. The state of the Broncos' quarterback position is in flux since they benched Russell Wilson for the final two games of the year, signaling they may opt to cut him before March.

  • Jalen Hurts QB | PHI

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: X-rays on finger come back clean

X-rays showed no fracture in Hurts' finger, and he's viewed as day-to-day, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Hurts dislocated the middle finger on his right throwing hand in Sunday's loss to the Giants and was removed from the game just before halftime with the Eagles trailing 24-0. Marcus Mariota finished the game, going 13-for-20 passing for 148 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding six carries for 46 yards. The Eagles travel to Tampa Bay to face the Bucs in the first round of the playoffs next Monday night, and at this point Hurts doesn't seem to be in any danger of missing the contest.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Anticipates throwing by OTAs

Burrow (wrist) said Monday that he thinks he will be cleared to resume throwing during OTAs this spring, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.

Burrow underwent season-ending surgery on his right wrist shortly after Thanksgiving Day and missed the final seven games of the 2023 campaign, finishing the season with 2,309 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions on a 66.9 percent completion rate. He should be fully recovered well ahead of training camp next summer.
