  • Justin Herbert QB | LAC

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Surgical in win

Herbert completed 26 of 34 attempts for 279 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Raiders.

Sunday wound up being an impressively efficient outing for the Pro Bowler as Herbert completed more passes to different receivers (nine) than he had total incompletions (eight). Despite an apparent hamstring injury to Keenan Allen, the 24-year-old quarterback hardly seemed out of sync, most notably completing an impressive out-of-rhythm touchdown to Gerald Everett in the third quarter that put the Chargers up two scores. Allen's status with be worth monitoring considering the veteran is Herbert's favorite target, but if the Chargers' offense is humming like this, it's hard to imagine the star signal caller struggling much with or without his top receiver.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Another rough opener

Rodgers completed 22 of 34 passes for 195 yards and an interception in Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Vikings. He also was sacked four times and lost a fumble.

Rodgers saw rookie Christian Watson drop a would-be touchdown on his first play, setting the stage for another disappointing season opener. The signal-caller was intercepted just before halftime, then began the second half by fumbling while being crunched on a sack. With superstar wideout Davante Adams gone, it was tailback AJ Dillon who led the Packers in receiving Sunday, leaving plenty for Rodgers and company to work on ahead of the Week 2 matchup versus the Bears.

  • Tua Tagovailoa QB | ATL

Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Beats Patriots again

Tagovailoa completed 23 of 33 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 20-7 win over the Patriots. He also rushed twice for no gain.

After the defenses dominated for most of the first half, Tagovailoa finally produced the game's first offensive touchdown in the final minute of the second quarter by perfectly leading Jaylen Waddle, who outraced New England's secondary to the end zone to give the Dolphins a 17-0 lead. With Waddle and Tyreek Hill racking up plenty of yards after the catch, Tua's set up for success without taking too many chances downfield. He'll lead the Dolphins into Baltimore for Miami's first road game of the season in Week 2.

  • Mitch Trubisky QB | TEN

Steelers' Mitch Trubisky: Rough debut with new team

Trubisky completed 21 of 38 pass attempts for 194 yards and one touchdown in an overtime win against Cincinnati on Sunday.

No turnovers is a good thing, but Trubisky was unacceptably ineffective as a passer in this game, as he repeatedly missed opportunities and made inaccurate throws the few times he did recognize a passing opportunity. Though they pulled out a victory in Week 1 thanks largely to five turnovers by opposing quarterback Joe Burrow, the Steelers will need Trubisky to play better going forward if they hope to be competitive in 2022. They play at home against a reeling New England squad in Week 2.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: Pedestrian numbers in Week 1 win

Brissett completed 18 of 34 passes for 147 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Browns' 26-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday. He also rushed four times for 10 yards.

Brissett's final line is likely of little surprise to those who've witnessed the veteran's handiwork in past seasons. Head coach Kevin Stefanski unsurprisingly had Brissett play it safe most of the afternoon, leaning heavily on Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to the tune of 33 carries overall. Brissett did stay away from turnovers, took only one sack and made key completions to Donovan Peoples-Jones and Amari Cooper on the game-winning drive, all which ultimately helped ensure Cleveland was able to escape with a narrow victory. Brissett will likely be asked to execute a similar game plan again when the Browns face off versus the Jets at home in Week 2 next Sunday.

  • Davis Mills QB | HOU

Texans' Davis Mills: Solid effort in Week 1 tie

Mills completed 23 of 37 passes for 240 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Texans' 20-20 overtime tie with the Colts on Sunday. He also rushed twice for minus-1 yard and lost a fumble.

Mills nearly turned in a mistake-free effort and was key in the Texans outperforming expectations to open the season. The second-year signal-caller once again relied the most on trusted veteran Brandin Cooks, but both of his touchdown passes went to recent addition O.J. Howard on throws of 16 and 22 yards in the second and third quarters, respectively. Mills also spread the ball around to complementary wideout targets Nico Collins and Chris Moore for another five of his completions, and he'll aim to carry over his season-opening momentum into a tough Week 2 road matchup against the Broncos next Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Mixed results in loss

Lawrence completed 24 of 42 pass attempts for 275 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Commanders. He also rushed twice for four yards.

Lawrence and the entire Jaguars' offense got off to a slow start, but sophomore quarterback got things rolling in the second half, highlighted by a 49-yard bomb to Christian Kirk. The 22-year-old was attempting to complete an impressive comeback drive in the closing moments of the contest, but he was harassed in the pocket and threw up a lame duck that was easily intercepted. The lack of protection seemed to be a recurring theme after last year's inconsistent line play. Lawrence's fantasy managers are hoping the quarterback's protection problems and high rate of interceptions will get ironed out next Sunday against the Colts.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Tosses three TDs in Week 1 win

Jackson completed 17 of 30 passes for 213 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 24-9 win over the Jets. He added 17 yards on six rushing attempts.

Jackson had just 83 passing yards and four rushing yards at halftime, but that passing total included a 25-yard touchdown to Devin Duvernay, which helped the Ravens take a 10-3 lead into the locker room. The 25-year-old quarterback linked up with Duvernay again for a 17-yard touchdown in the third quarter, then uncorked a deep ball to Rashod Bateman for a 55-yard touchdown later in the third. It's become a running theme with Jackson that teams with extensive preparation have game planned better against his dual-threat style, but the Dolphins won't have that luxury in Week 2. Expect Jackson to do more damage on the ground against Miami, especially if running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) is ready to return to Baltimore's backfield.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Falcons' Marcus Mariota: As advertised in ATL debut

Mariota completed 20 of 33 passes for 215 yards during Sunday's 27-26 loss to the Saints. He also rushed 12 times for 72 yards and a score.

Mariota was efficient passing the ball and showcased his dual-threat ability during his Falcons debut, but Atlanta's offense struggled mightily in the red zone. Rookie first-round pick Drake London, who played despite an ankle injury, emerged as Mariota's go-to target and finished with team highs in targets (seven) receptions (five) and receiving yards (74). Despite not finding the end zone through the air, Mariota's production on the ground still leaves him as a viable option in deeper leagues moving forward. However, he faces a difficult test next week against the Rams defense, which will look to bounce back from a poor performance against Buffalo.

  • Mac Jones QB | SF

Patriots' Mac Jones: Undergoes X-rays on back

X-rays that Jones underwent on his back after Sunday's loss to the Dolphins came back negative, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The report notes that the QB will be evaluated further when the Patriots get back to Foxborough, but for now, consider Jones day-to-day ahead of next Sunday's game against the Steelers. If he misses any practice time, veteran Brian Hoyer and rookie Bailey Zappe are next up for the team's signal-caller reps.
